Mobo brands matter?

Caught in between asus z87 pro, gigabyte D3H and MSI gd65 for my new haswell build. Other than the pricing, these three boards seems to be in same range to me. is there any other factors to consider when purchasing either of these 3?

Choose one that is close to your house.

Just get the brand you personally prefer if the prices between similar specs are quite close.

Most of us have a brand that we prefer due to various reasons, such as whether it is reliable, RMA location, better features at certain price range.

At least for me, I am going MSI this time round due to the fact that my haswell mobo has the best features at the cheaper price point.

Also, my MSI Athlon 64 mobo is still surviving.
My ASUS C2D mobo is hay-wiring.

they have one person working there very friendly... he helped me troubleshoot my mobo and taught me a few things about mobo lol.. even chatted about his lion dance hobby

When my asrock z77 e4m couldnt even post, they took it in and sent it back to be repaired and loaned me a loaner board.

When the board came back still got same problem and they didnt have stock so I had to use the loaner board for about 3 weeks until they finally had new stocks and then gave me a replacement.

So no, they dont do 1-to-1 replacements for everything, usually they will try and fix first, if cannot then change new set.

Ban leong RMA dept has been too notorious in chalking up negative points

Hopefully avertek takes over the whole Asus series, at least they have rather decent customer support.

gigabyte has got ultra durable 5/4/3. reinforce pcb, and cooler mosfet, VRAM.

ASUS has got DIGI+ precise power on the CPU.

MSI has got military class certified. 5k japanese cap, tested for extreme temperature, electrostatic.....blar blar blar.

OC get ASUS with those many many power phase. general use get gigabyte. MSI somewhere in between. MSI has the 'killer' internet lan which is worth mentioning, throttles the lan network usage.

btw i iirc gigabyte mobo is made in china, while the other 2 is in taipei.

I think most important is not the branding, but rather the specs and features that they offer. Branding do play a part in determining the trustworthiness of a mobo and location of RMA. But i think if the mobo is really that good, chances of incurring RMA would be slim, if not none. So when u buy the mobos, look at wad u want out of the mobo, not buy because someone says this particular brand of mobo is good.

i think mainly it depends on user preference. All mobo have their own features and the quality of mobo is up to a certain standard already. The lifespan of a mobo is much dependant on how much OC/voltage adjustment that u have done.

i think nowadays all the brands are the same...just lookout for the board features...some come with more usb 3.0 ports, some come with wifi onboard, etc etc.

Location of RMA is definitely an important factor...

ASUS should take back all the warranty issue isit not? Since you guys got official local service center liao, it's always best to have the direct service center rather than distro

to me,

doesn't matter if you just wanna look at performance.
matter if you wanna to look into long term durability(example like which brand spoil the most or you personally have bad experience with etc)

I think main thing for me to change mobo (after all the years of using gigabyte) is that the mobo tend to has blue screen of death (for me) after about 2 years even without OC. so just trying my options how reliable is other mobo brands
