my rampage II gene has bid adieu.

I'd like to use most of what's left from the system so I will appreciate any help on what to upgrade to.

Here's the old setup:
Asus Rampage II Gene
6Gb RAM (can't) remember the bus speed
R9 280
Modular PS
120Gb SSD
1Tb HDD

I'm guessing I just need a new Mobo, CPU and RAM? My son can pretty much play all his games so a new CPU/mobo/RAM combo that performs close to the old one is OK. Budget of $500.

What games your son is playing?

going skylate with a H series mobo and getting the ram from amazon will need more than $600.

Hi, that'd be great if I can reuse the RAM. I'm not really well versed in CPU and Mobo as you can probably tell with my previous posts I only get my info from this forum. Would you mind recommending a combo?

found this in one of the threads,

CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-6500 + GIGABYTE GA-B150M-D3H @ $449 (PC Themes)
RAM: Kingston ValueRAM DDR4-2133 CL15 8GB @ $57+3"

seems to fit my budget.
