Mobo or processor uplorried?

Today cpu cannot POST or power on.

Nothing on screen. blank screen no signal to vga connector. Monitor power button just blink in standby mode.

Tried e following:

• disconnected hdd, odd n non-essential parts.
• reseated ram sticks.
• left 1 stick ram.
• re-connected mobo 24 pin n processor 4 pin power connector.
• removed n put back cmos battery.
• paper clip test of psu : passed.
• removed n reinstall processor's heat sink.

Still cannot POST. Only blank screen. Using IGP onboard graphics all along. Fans (psu, casing, heatsink) all spinning. But no POST beep or display. No sound no picture.

Last night still use n shutdown properly with no hardware or software change.

Means what huh? Mobo and/or processor uplorried?

might want to list your setup.. suspect it is the mobo. did the HDD activity led blink when the fans are spinning?

Usually even if some part of mobo or CPU uplorry but PSU is working when power on all the fans will auto spin up one.

However I think the only way to troubleshoot and find out the exact faulty part for your case is to swap parts and test with known working parts, which I suspect might be very hard to find now lol.

suggest clean ram contacts & swap psu to cfm 1st.

Based on ur test result, high chance its ur mobo that is faulty.
U can try this method to test ur processor, remove ur heatsink fan and power ur system. On for around 10 secs and off it. If ur processor is slightly hot means its still working.

I borrowed a Biostar board(P67 or H67 or something) from a friend when my z77 e4m was dead, that board was friggin brilliant. There were these small LED indicators that acts as a visual POST for each of the core components like RAM/CPU/etc.

If your board doesnt even POST and doesnt have a debugger indicator of some sorts like that, I dont think there is another way to troubleshoot other than swapping parts. I might be wrong though.

Bought e processor n mobo in Jan 2011. 3 year warranty for both. Just expired by 2 months nia all zhun zhun start dying. WTF...

Icic. Kum sia. If only mobo spoilt, I can see if can get a leftover old stock 760G AM3 board from SLS for $100 only. if processor also dead, then as well get a cheap Intel Pentium mobo+processor bundle.

Removed heatsink n powered on 3 times.

First time 10 seconds. Room temperature.
Second time 20 seconds. No sign of getting warmer.
Third time 60 seconds. Still not warm or hot.

Means even processor also uplorried?

i believe the paperclip test only shows tat psu is not dead/can turn on. but not whether its... output voltage (?) etc, are ok or not ok.

Might wanna bring down your board and CPU to nigel shop. On prior notice please ask if he has any AM3 boards lying around that he can test.

If he plug in and still fails then possible that the cpu faulty. If it pass then could be the board faulty.

Dude! Your symptom is exactly like my dad's PC problem before Chinese New Year. His PC showed this symptom exactly after Christmas 2013. Hahahaha...

I checked the PC and swapped the PSU/RAM. No sign of recovery. I swapped the motherboard battery. Still the same thing. I swapped the graphics card. Still the same thing. The hard-disk is not running though but the ventilation fans are running.

Conclusion: The motherboard is dead. Because I suspect the motherboard is not generating power to the other components since the PSU connector is plugged to the board. The ventilation fans on the casing are turning because they are plugged to the PSU directly. The only thing that is turning is the heatsink fan on the processor though. The graphics card ventilation fan is not turning either.

Biostar is known for having issue 2-3 years down the road.

Nowadays most product can't last a long time unlike last time..

I have a hitachi TV at home, 3 years standard warranty, we extend another 2 years

After 3 years and a few weeks up lorry

Send to repair 3 weeks then get back..

Biostar have always been a cheapest board. But however they arent that reliable. Furthermore most of the components after 3 years will start to have those minor problems, or should i say minor hiccups once in a while.

Handphones also, designed to last for a year or 2. After that all the minor issues starts to come out.
