I just inherited a sharkoon case and it does not come with the screws. Only the spaces are mounted.

Anyone knows if Arock 81 HS comes with screw to mount?

Or where in sls i can buy some?

You got to know the size of the screws. Head back to the distro and ask for the screws see if they have it.

Or alternatively check the screw size and head down to SLT, head to the last floor. 2 shops on the left beside Sun Electronics sells nothing but screws and more screws.

Remove one space and head to SLT to look for screws.

Screws come with the casing not with the motherboard.

So yeah, u will have to buy it separately.

Some updates and confusion. I am really rusty now.

I gotten some free case screws from PCtheme. Thanks.

I have used royfosty diy guide. I need some guidance below:

1) I have connected the 24 pin mobo power from PSU and left with the 8 pin CPU connector. Can I justconnect 4 pins to the Atx 12 v power connector (ATX 12 V1) ? this is a 4 pin female onboard.

2) Do i connect 2x 6 pin PCI power supply to my Parlit GTX 760? or just one will do? there are actually total 12 female on the card.

3) Can i use sata 3 data cables for my SSD and hdd?

Mobo: Asrock H81M HDS.
PSU: Thermotake 560 bought online
GFX: Parlit GTX 760 bought online

Hi thank you for viewing.

Well basically ASRock has only 1 cpu 4pin connector. Yes you will need to connect that.

GTX760 uses dual 6pin PCIe Connectors. Connect both of it in order to run it.

And yes you can use SATA 3 cable for both.

Before you confirm that the psu is dead.

Do a paperclip test. Take a paperclip and short pin 16 and any ground pin.

Not sure how to do it can youtube it. If the fan is spinning, there must be something shorted. If not, then yes the psu may be dead.

thanks for the help, bro.

Just did the paper clip test. Fan is not spining. :(

I redid the paper clip. I think i got the orientation wrong and fan is spinning now.

Whats the step to troubleshoot?

I have d/c all my sata and pci cables.

Just connect the psu to my mobo. cpu heatsink fan is not spining.

Alright, at least now you will know that your PSU is working fine.

Next phase.

Remove all the motherboard and PSU.

Put your motherboard on a cardboard, or simply your motherboard box.

Only connect 1 piece of the RAM, CPU, CPU Cooler.

Next only 24pin and the CPU 4pin. Try see if you can get it to boot up.

I have disconnected all the io.

Only psu, mobo+cpu+hs and ram.

Now PSU fan and cpu fan are not spining.

I suspect its still the PSU. But strange when I did the paper clip, its psu spinning.

by right Power supply fan only start spin if >50% load
if no load fan still spin mean power supply is faulty

Not all psu fan will not kick in at start. Lower end models will kick in no matter what. Unless it is stated or with a switch between always on or hybrid mode.

In this case TS are you using thermaltake smart se? Or you using toughpower?

Try see if you have another psu. Try to see if it will boot.

Im suspecting either mobo has issue or psu.

Also check if you connect correctly the on off switch of the mobo to the front chassis.

Or alternatively check the manual if your orientations of the on off is correct. Use a pen to short that 2 pin in order to turn on without the chassis switch

Update:

I just tested my thermotake psu on another msi mobo and the cpu fan spins.

I have also tested the working msi 's existing psu on my parlit mobo and nothing happens.

So I conclude my thermtake psu is working and the problem lies with my mobo, cpu or the cpu fan.

What are the chances or test that its not my cpu fan faulty before i send rma :(

High chance is the mobo faulty.

Get it exchanged/RMA at the distro. ASRock is by Avertech/ASview @ Kallang. Nearest MRT is at Lavender.

Highly doubt is the CPU or CPU fan.

There is a possibility that the screw, mount spacer is causing short circuit.

Try to take out the new mobo with cpu and ram, connect all power supply and do a test.

Yes if you have not removed the mobo please do so and test outside the chassis.

Actually i did dismount my Asrock mobo from my case when i connect it to the exisiting psu on the msi pc.

So i don't think its the grounding.

Many thanks for all the help and support.

1 more quick qn. After I remove my cpu and heatsink. So i need to reapply any thermo paste when I reinstall the cpu after the mobo rma?

Not necessary. But advisable to do so. Try to invest on a tube of mx4. Once use please store in a zip lock bag.

How to remove thermal paste, the cheapest way is use zippo. The atas way is use Isopropyl alcohol at guardian. $2.50 vs $6 both same result. Up to you to decide.
