Mobo smoking after RMA

Recently I had a Gigabyte mobo RMA'd and it worked fine for about 3 days but on the 4th day I noticed smoke coming out of the Mobo after I switched it on, I immediately unplugged the PSU, so scared it would catch fire and start burning.

Is the mobo dead now? Or should I try to power it on again? Don't really feel like RMA'ing it again since the board came back worse than before...

Also would this incident have damaged my other components? TIA.

check yr mobo got any black marks or bloated caps?

The smoke came from the I/O panel area but I can't really see any marks or bloated caps.

No smell from PSU either.

sometimes it could be underside of the mb. you can only confirm unless you remove it and check it.

dun advice to power on again until you confirm is mb tossed.

had someone check your psu is still ok to be safe

if you can see smoke from i/o panel is not small matter

Checked underside, no burnt marks either.

So... better not turn back on?

One trick I've learnt from others: Take a cold spray, spray until a coating of ice has appeared. Power on. Look at the spot where the ice melted.

Did you try pouring milo on it like that other guy?

Checked underside, no burnt marks either.

Smoke usually means burnt components. Maybe mobo was defective or there was a short when you connected it back. Either way don't turn it back on and take it back to Gigabyte. If you don't want to RMA I suggest to get a new motherboard.
