Modular PSU question

Hi guys,
I am replacing an old Seasonic modular PSU with maybe a Seasonic M12ll modular PSU, can I just replaces the PSU without changing the cables? i.e. unplug the old PSU and just slot the new one in and connect to the old cables.

There was a new video on this a while back from Gamersnexus on youtube - general recommendation is better not. But usually same brand is ok.

Check with corbell on this, send them a photo of ur psu label.. Different version/revision of X series will not have its cables work for all. When i RMA my X850w, they told me that i may need to change cables coz current stock are new revision and cable layout changed. But luckily, they managed to find the last old same revision as mine. If next time i RMA, it will be new revision le and i will need to redo my custom cables.

In other words if the old and psu cable pinout and are different, reusing old cables can be potentially lethal to your hardware.

Don't try it unless you don't have the new cables at all.

Hi. Best way to check if the PSU cable is compatible between both the old and the new same brand of PSU is to go to Cablemod.

Since they are making those sleeved cables, they can't make it for ever single PSU model correct? So they have done the test to check if the previous Seasonic model is still compatible with the new one. That is how I got my Seasonic Prime Titanium model to work with their Seasonic cable meant for other model of the Seasonic brand.

Just go to their website and check out the compatibility chart for the cables.

As you can see, it seems that all the Seasonic models are compatible with each other. But best that you know which model your previous model was and compare it to the new model to be sure.

if same brand, the only concern probably is the layout on the PSU itself lo. for example the sata power mayb on the right for current and left for the new one
