A senior hospital doctor who groped a trainee surgeon telling her: 'well that’s what juniors are for isn’t it?' was struck off the medical register in disgrace.

Dr Humayun Iqbal, 40, had been conducting a private anatomy lesson when he forced himself upon the woman and attempted to kiss her whilst trying to put his right arm down the inside of her blouse.

When the junior colleague protested and told him to get off, Iqbal replied: 'I have to practice for my wife' and later added: ‘'At the end of your rotation you will be begging for it,’' it was said.

Later after she moved hospitals Iqbal sent the junior surgeon a text saying: 'A good boss is like a bra - always supportive and never lets you down, a bad boss is like pampers - always stuck to your arse.’'

The woman known as Dr B was one of two junior female colleagues molested by Iqbal at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne where he was registrar.

The other woman known as Miss A was said to have been 'confused and distressed' by Iqbal groping her breast and fielded an entry in her diary saying: 'awful day. Iqbal.'

At the General Medical Council in Manchester Iqbal of Ponteland, Newcastle denied wrongdoing but was found guilty of misconduct charges by a fitness to practise panel.

Chairman Dr Anthony Morgan told him: 'Whilst the extent of the physical assault was limited, it occurred on each occasion, during a teaching situation with a junior colleague that you both engineered and exploited.

What's the point of this post? It did not happen in Singapore but it could happen any where.

He can apply to work in Singapura.

That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. Not because it is not true, but it is completely hypothetical.

You can take every single crime case that happens abroad and say that the person can apply to come to Singapore. And why would the person in the article be stupid enough to come here if he has a nice cushy job in the UK?

Exactly. Might as well say that Norway killer can come to singapore if he ever gets out of prison. WT logic is that? :s11:

Since he wouldn't be allowed to practise in the UK, he would naturally head for Singapore

because singapore has a open-leg policy to welcome foreign trash?

Such public news and you think Singapore would allow them in? Too bad there isn't a facepalm smiley because it would be very useful now.

Let me put one.

Somehow I believe Singapore will let him in.

In fact, I wonder if Govt, ICA & MOM know about this news or not.

It will be more publicised once the tribunal rules. You really think that they don't do a background check for a high profile job? Even those living here do get a background check.

I don't think Doctor consider a high profile job.

If ICA is giving a PR or citizenship to him, they may do a background check.

However if MOM is to issues a work pass to him, I don't think they do a background check or have enough time to check before issue out a work pass.

By the time, MOM get a confirm background check, he maybe working in Sg for months or even years.

I work HR before so I know the SOP to apply for work pass.

Regardless, my bone with TS is his contention that the person in question will come to Singapore. It is stated as a matter of fact when it is unproven.

The question on whether Singapore welcomes him or not is another separate. If we accept the basic premise of TS, the topics will go off focus.

True. However chances he will come to Sg over other country is higher base on our foreigner friendly policy which has almost have the same standing as citizen.

a few years ago, an israeli(iirc) neurosurgeon was working at the NNI, natl neuroscience institute. looked rather promising with his work here then he was exposed for some academic/research issues overseas before he came to sg.

the scientific community is really small, probably smaller than docs or same size. but the neurosurgeon managed to setup shop here.

A few years ago, I would admit that it was possible. Not likely now, with the tightening of the influx. Still, hypothetically if he's allowed into Singapore, then there is something grossly wrong with the system.

Anyway, the chances of him coming here are quite remote for the moment.
