Mop is tied to hkd at 1hkd to 1.03mop.
So how much you expect them to cheat you?

I might be wrong though. But I see online exchange rate sgd to macau is $6.3 but I google cant find shop changing it.

Anyway, I went around at ppl park a shop offering me 6.2 mop.

My first reaction seeing 5.97mop on calculator I jitao say he trying to cheat me. I shouldn't said that.

Maybe mop not that common, thus the bad rate? But guess you may be right then.

But what I understand, most ppl who went Macau do not really need to change to mop. The locals will accept hkd, cos many weekend visitors are from HK. They'll change hkd to the visitors accordingly.

Tourists normally use hkd instead of mop in Macau in view of the currency status. The buy and selling rate can differ a lot.when you want to change back sin dollar lost in the ex rate

Anyone know does HK shop take 1k. I changed at the idiotic money changer and when I ask him he say yaya 500. But he only give me 2pc 500 and all 1k. I was like wtf. The rate is quite okay at 6.165 arcade 2nd floor.

But the problem notes is with year 2002. I holding a 2010 and 2012 1k

Unless you buy stuff of few hundred dollars, shops might not take 1k note even without any counterfeit 1k note

For 1k note most restaurant only accept 2010 or after note only

Actually for 1K note so far no issues especially those that r issues 2010 onwards... I have a number of 1k notes when i change in sg and spend in HK in mid Feb this year.

Only a few small shops or char chan teng dont accept. so far the rest is fine.

Using CC to make payment so far the rate is still fine lar. especcially for big amount items. hope this helps to ppl who is afraid of 1k HK note.

cheers and enjoy the trip to HK
