Money changing over few countries

I will be on a 1 month trip starting from 1 Dec.


First will be


Thailand - Cambodia - Thailand (don't ask me why I go back to Thailand as it is for work) - Laos - Vietnam.


Should I change some Riel and Kip in advance or just straight to USD since Vietnam also accept USD? Can I find Riel, Kip and Dong easily in money changer or atm near border / immigration?

If want, can change Baht in SG, the rest just bring USD.

in phnom penh, u can pay with USD and they will accept it. They will return you USD small change and riel small change. but imo..i think that riel is too mafan to handle cos too many digits and all in notes. so u can actually bring USD of 1 and 5 for convenience sake to pay for things..10 and 20s to pay for hotel. Thailand there are money changers as long as ur in the shopping mall (i suppose) and they are able to change for u.

however at phnom penh, they have 1 street filled with money changers and as for other part, its quite difficult to change money. And when ur taking bus towards vietnam from phnom penh, they will stop by a eatery at the cambodia border to let passenger eat and change money. The rate at the eatery is sama sama at ho chi minh. Ho chi minh can change money at gold smith shops or those money changer shops along the backpacker place. But in vietnam, rates would be higher at goldsmith shops, so do avoid backpacker moneychangers.

Cho Ben Thanh has two gold smith shops along the Pho2000, u can inquire about the rate as i change there and there are tons of people changing thousand dollar SGD notes there to vnd..as well as USD 100s..
