I'm going on an austerity drive too. Bought Carrefour housebrand 'Fruit & Fibre' cereal that was selling at $6 buy-1-get-1-free over the weekend to eat with NTUC housebrand soya bean milk for lunch in the office. I estimate my lunch cost to be less than $1/day.

What to do, since I'm low-income?

Money-saving tips:
Instead of buying breakfast daily on my way to work, I now buy biscuits (cream crackers). For those of you who buy breakfast, you can pay up to $2.50 if you buy beehoon and add egg or this and that. With cream crackers, it is a healthy option and it is cheap!

$5.60 for a tin which can last you 1 month or $1.60 for a pack of about 8 which can last you a week! I buy Jacobs brand. You can also spread peanut butter on it.

So you can save about $2 x 20 work days = $40!

Of course, another user also pointed out that oats is a very cheap and healthy breakfast too. But that is a little troublesome. Either I wake up earlier to cook, eat and wash or I do it at the office - also troublesome. So for now, Jacobs it is.

Yup I try to take fruits before my meal. (a lot of people take it after meals = wrong)

I also buy vitamins from GNC - buy 1 get 1 free :)

1 capsule costs 36 cents only. :)

Buy vitamins from online store instead of GNC.

just bought instant oat, a can opener and a can of condensend milk.
was planning to eat it for dinner every day, because the bulk of my expenses on food comes from dinner.
but the thing is, it is really a turn off to eat that goey stuf. the girl that frequent with me made some comments that i am super "paiseh" to continue.
*sigh*

instant oats taste good. i like to add a dollop of honey and/or some fruits.

i rather you have a sandwich for dinner. always make this meal the lightest meal of the day. healthier for you too since i recall you want to lose weight or you are going to have beer belly?

i like to ask

if lets say i have a multi split air-con unit at home for 3 rooms
and i used to have aircons at 2 rooms running
can i save electricity by changing our lifestyle habits by having only 1 aircon running every night while using fan for the other room?

will this help?
