Is my monitor dying? The black spots starts appearing after some time of usage and after that the monitor display becomes unusable as it starts flickering. I am using an integrated graphics card.

Try with another monitor/TV, see whether if the same issue persist.

If so, then its your igpu problem le.

The black spots themselves flicker?

Try hitting your monitor and see if it goes away for a few minutes

(BTW what brand is the monitor? Wonder if it's the same as the one I have)

TS, list down the brand/model of your monitor/motherboard.

I am using Acer G235h 23" LCD monitor, motherboard is ASRock H81M-A.

The black spots do not flicker, but the annoying thing is that the black spot areas will suddenly change place when you open any windows...

I tried the same monitor on another desktop, tried changing the power and HDMI cable but the monitor symptom is still same, now have to think of buying a new monitor. This monitor is about 5 years old, i heard that LED monitor last longer?

it is probably the display controller is having problem. The LCD should be fine. You can try to buy spare parts on ebay to replace the display controller PCB. however, it is a gamble. It may better to buy a new monitor if the spare part costs half or more, than the price of a new monitor.

It also could be an controller or LCD overheat problem. Try adding a table fan blowing at the monitor and see if the black spots reappear. If it doesn't, then you should mod a DC fan on the vents of the monitor.

The black spots change depending on the picture displayed. It follows the color on the screen.

Screenshots don't show monitor defects... Did you use an external camera ? Take a picture in your bios screen and then your actual in window screen.

If it's only screenshot related, it's a graphic card or driver issue... Or worse some malware intercept your graphical data lol.

The screenshot was taken using my mobile phone.

Actually when powering up the Acer monitor, by right there is a "Acer" logo that is shown. Even that logo display is affected so it probably is not BIOS or windows related. I have purchased a Dell monitor and it is fine now, no more black spots :)
