Crossover 2720MDP Gold LED

Guys, to contribute I wanna share my experience where I just received my 2720MDP from AW within 3 days after ordering! Superb customer service, though they sent me the wrong stand =.= I ordered the Pivot 1, but got the normal stand.

Anyway my unit I test briefly seems like 0 dead pixel and backlight bleed was minimal, not sure my testing n eyes is correct or not.

However 1 surprise finding is that my very old Dell notebook r able to display full 2560X1440p thru VGA!! This was a big surpise to me, running just on some old 256mb ATI X1400. (not for gaming)

I also connect to my other HP laptop with ATI 7690M, display port, no doubt it display full 1440p gracefully, with audio transmital also.
I did try using HDMI connection with a high speed monster cable, but it only go up to 1080p.

Connected to PS3, Display 1080p at Home Page menu, but it only runs at 720p in games ( Assassin Creed Revolution - suppose to support 1080p). Am still verifying the capability of 1080p on PS3.

Hope my sharing helps those who is in doubt like me previously :)

1 thing I was a bit disappointed on the 2720MDP is the casing of it. Whole thing is made out of plastic(Non I can see is in metal, except scres) and not aluminium or metal casing on 27Q as users are promoting on the built quality.

Seems like everyone is pleased with their Crossover purchase.

I would need some advice from you hwzers.

I did some googling could not find much resource on Crossover supporting 120Hz even with toasty driver.

I`m now considering between Catleap 270 and Crossover Gold or Q27.

Read this post and notice that people facing heating issue with this Crossover and power brick runs hot and spoiled easily??. Replacement of power brick quite costly.

Even with the perfect pixel guarantee , the seller does not cover dust or bright or stuck pixel.

Googled and realized that
Gaming 2560x1440 with 120Hz with MSAA and SAO seems to be have better experience compared to 1080.

However, current market even Dell 2713 or 2711 doesnt support that high Hz.

Here's e breakdown between Catleap and Crossover from I found out :
Catleap
Pros
Only 2B version with custom PCB can support 124Hz
Other version not too sure whether support
Comes with Analog and DVI.

Cons
Stand Wobbly
Stand does not balance the Monitor evenly.

Crossover Q27
Pros
Price 399 affordable
Good Build Quality
Comes in variants versions (Different Design(Q Blade), Privot and Multi Input(Gold)

Both doesnt come with scaler and auto-detection of video signal input.
Addition : HDMI input doesnt display 1080p content like PS3, etc..

Is it worth to Get CatLeap over Crossover for the 124Hz and Analog Input for additional SGD$179?

Wah ... VGA port can get 2560x1440 also? This is really good to know. As previously there are users who couldn't get resolution at 2560x1440.

2720MDP is from which "brand"? CatLeap or Shimian or what?

My CrossOver 27Q with pivot is made of metal ... ok.

Hope that this 2 monitor can last me another 5yrs before my next upgrade to triple monitor!! =)

Hello,
I am kinda interested in buying a Crossover monitor and I am trying to find some more information.

I live in Bangkok (Thailand) and this is the "closest" regional forum on the subject I could find. (There seems to be no buyer in Thailand)

Could someone suggest me a good seller on Ebay, is there any preference for shipping to South East Asia?
Also I am quite concerned about the Warranty. Is it one year, right? let's say I have a problem after 6 months... will I have to ship (round trip) the monitor back to Korea at my expense?

Any experiences appreciated, thanks!

Hello ... greetings from S'pore!!

Any sellers from eBay should be fine, just make sure you pay using PayPal. As for warranty ... please check and confirm with the seller. From what we know ... yes ... we have to ship the monitor back at our cost.

One of the guy here actually found out the problem and asked them to shipped the replacement parts over and he repair the monitor himself. But I don't suppose many of us here can do that.

The 2720MDP is from Crossover also, that's why I was disappointed with the plastic finish of the entire monitor, non of the casing part is metal.:(

Oic. But at least the consoling part is that you can get full resolution easily.

my shimian going strong for close to a year!

My 2 Crossovers are also ok so far. Hopefully they'll last till 5th year or longer. Think next upgrade will move to triple screen setup liao. But I think 3 x 24 inch screen would be enough.

Anyway my table might not be long enough. LOL!!

Can someone please attach the link to a recommended seller for the crossover non-pivot model? I bought one from Gmarket once and am looking forward to purchase another. Thanks!

This monitor just got delivered to me. Ordered on 17 May 2012. So including weekends, total take about 5days to reach me.

Now is to inspect the set liao.

Ok, first impression of this monitor ... LOVELY!!

Was expecting both monitor tomorrow but 1 came first!

So now, how do I check for stuck / dead pixel?

Just received the 2nd set at about 5.30pm.

I was in the room and almost cannot hear the guy knocking at the door. But it so happens that I came out to the kitchen to get some drinks and heard people knocking at the door.

Open the door and saw the delivery guy .... and collected my set.

If didn't come out ... then siao liao .... must re-arrange for delivery again.

I received 1 set on 21 May 2012 and 2nd set on 22 May 2012.

Both monitor already used for about 1yr already.

I bought the CrossOver 27Q with pivot stand. Both monitor are working well till today. Hope that this 2 monitor will last me another 4yrs!! *fingers crossed*
