Hi all,

I got this problem with my desktop for months and couldn't fix it.:s11:
Hope someone here can help me out with it.
Thanks in advance.

So most of the times i switch on my computer, there will be a normal short beep sound, awhile later, i hear the sound made when we get to the windows logo (only the sound can be heard, the monitor stays off), next i get this message

"Entering Power Save Mode"

when i press the menu icon of the monitor, it says
"There is no signal coming from your computer.
Press any key on the keyboard or mouse to wake it up
To change to another input source press the monitor button again"

I have a friend that bought the same monitor with me and had almost the same problem. But for his case, his monitor doesnt turn on ever. Mine does turn on like 1 out of 30 times i tried. Sometimes it even turns on the first attempt

And during times when i succeed in switching it on. the graphic card crash repeatedly on several occasions when videos/games are played

im using the DVI-D input

Does anyone know whats going on?

Are you using dell monitor? If yes, have you try setting your monitor input setting? For example, Hdmi, display etc..

Hope this helps

sometimes it might just be the cable issue, try using another cable
Or if you are using HDMI, try using other type of connection like dvi/vga/dp
if you are able to login to windows, perform a stress test on your GPU

Try re-sitting your RAMs. If using single stick, switch it to a different slot. If using 2 sticks, try swapping slots. And clean the metal contacts with an eraser.

xtractor, i tried switching between the integrated gpu and GTX460.
Turns out the screen can be turned on(and function normally) more frequently when im using my integrated gpu(80% success rate) vs 10% success rate for GTX460.

Allanlee82, unfortunately i only have the vga cable. but that cable cant be connected to my GTX460. It only has input for 2x DVI-D(or am i mistaken?). or is it actually possible to plug into the motherboard VGA port but still activate my GTX460?
The time i manage to swtich on my computer while using GTX460, performed a stress test using furmark, results seems to show that it works normally.
maintained 76C for 8mins
GPU load:99%
men load:15%
fan: 67%
however, i used to keep getting the following message in the past.
display driver NVIDIA windows kernel mode, version 337.88 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

i tired swtiching the input source between DVI-D and auto select. But there isnt much affect the results much.

then u know where the problem come from already :D

display driver NVIDIA windows kernel mode, version 337.88 stopped responding coz u did not remove the existing gtx460 driver while u are testing on the integrated card :s12:

If connecting to ur on board graphic works, most likely is your gpu that's spoilt, unless it's the pcie slot that is having problem, the last thing u can try is move the gpu to another pcie slot and test,if it fails, can deduce that the gpu is spoilt.btw, the stress test should run longer, minimum 20-30min would be better

Allanlee82 your suggestion worked!! moved my gpu to another slot and everything is normal again! Thanks a ton!

Everyone, thanks for the suggestions too

Incase anyone with the same problem sees this, i also deleted my display driver and installed the newest one from nvidia. Without that, the computer couldnt detect the gpu in its new position.
