probably the cost of repair maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of a new one if there is any especially if the problem lies with the panel and not PCB or power issues.

For faulty LCD monitor beyond warranty, get a new one is the way to go. Unless it is one of your multi-monitor setup.

Shld be a PCB issue or power issue, coz no orange or green light when try to power on. Panel was working fine.

If no power light, likely power board or logic card (difficult to repair) problem.. If power board still repairable, if logic card/processor chip, then difficult to find parts.. I got done a few with logic problem.. siannz.. can only savage it for spare parts..

btw, what's the model? maybe i am interested to buy lei.. hehe..

likely power/inverter board..
try flashing a torch light on the panel, can u see an image?.. IF yes, logic card is ok,, then have to troubleshoot the power/inverter board..

as with my previous post, whats the model #? am also interested to purchase if u are not into repairing it..

If u are willing to open it up (which is sometimes difficult for beginners), look out for bloated caps.. & if you do, PLEASE BECAREFUL.. high voltages are present on the Power board esp main Capacitor..

I had a similar problem on my Samsung SyncMaster 931bw, Only the power button light flash, I had to keep on try to turn it off and on for 15mins before the display will come on.

After reading about problem capacitors being the cause of such failures, I opened up the monitor and examined the power supply board. Two capacitors had bulging tops, so I went to Sim Lim Tower, bought soldering tools and two 1000uf capacitors and replaced them. My monitor is now fixed. Cost 80 cents for the capacitors.

Well done & Good job!.. :)

However, i am just concerned..

Just to share, that i did the same for my first few monitor repairs (i.e replaced ONLY the bloated caps).. But upon reading & communicating with other repair hobbyist, it is advisable to replaced ALL of them on the Power board EXCEPT the BIG FAT guy sitting in the middle.. Also the replacement have to be good quality Low ESR, High ripple caps (e.g Panasonic series FM, FC,etc) usually not found in Sim Lim. If not, (touch wood) the problem will come back a few/many months later..

Hope it does not happen to you la.. anyway, congrats for the repair..

thks, the monitor is over 3 years old, I will probably replace it if it fails in the next 3 years...:)

Power board faulty is the likely cause.. have done many lcds but not led monitor repairs to pinpoint which area on the power board is the likely culprit.

sync master 193t. there was some peeling on the lcd panel, then i try to remove it and it came out as a whole piece of stick on film. after removing it and puting it back into the case , the image on the lcd screen became very faint.

can still see the image but do background light or brightness set to very low. not sure it related to the film or i accidentally spolit the internal pcb.

any idea?

hi bro.. sorry ah.. i abit confused.. u mean u disassemble the whole panel & remove the peeling?.. or u mean u just pluck out the peel part from the front part of the panel without assembly?. i cannot see how removing the peel-off can effect the PCB..

it can be peel off without taking off the assembly, but i took out the assembly and peel it off anyway. after putting it back, it became the faint problem.

any idea?

Honestly, not really sure what is causing the faint image. my guess is if the faint problem only at the peel off portion then maybe is due to the peeling.. if across the whole panel then could be something else...
