Any idea why 34" is mainly 21 : 9?
Can't find any 16 : 9.
Anime and movies and games normally 16 : 9

34" is ultrawide size, basically same height as 27" qhd with more screen estate horizontally.

LCD panels are usually manufactured at standard sizes (eg. for 16:9 - 27", 32", 40")
Closest you can get is 32" for 16:9 i guess

OK thank you. Any recommendations for 30~32 inch? 16 : 9 only. Anime / Movie lover here. There isn't any hope for anime/movies to be 21 : 9 so the extra wide isn't useful.

I recently bought a 32" 1440p at $525. But it's IPS and 60Hz so not what you're looking for.

No preferences for that. As budget as possible.

Oh yes. Best to avoid VA panel. TN if possible.
Matte, not glossy.

??? how come you wan TN instead of VA? :s11:

TN is usually considered one of the worst in term of color reproduction and viewing angle etc. among 3 common choices (TN,VA & IPS).

As budget? Just go for any of the PRISM monitor that fits the resolution.

I called in to PRISM and asked. Ang moh picked up the call with poor reception. Noisy background. He said there's 0 monitor that fits my requirements.
-30+ inches monitor
-16:9 aspect ratio

My two cents.

- Movies as of recently are actually mostly shot in 21:9 not 16:9, so an ultrawide can make sense if your primary purpose is for movies.
- For your usage a VA panel may actually be preferable. You don't need the high fast response times of a TN panel, which is preferable for gaming use. VA suits your use case better due to better contrast ratios in general. (FYI - most TVs currently use VA panels)

The PRISM X315 PRO would probably suit your needs.

For a cheap 27" option, you can look to try the Monex M27CQH. Below $300 after coupons for a 27" QHD 144Hz curved monitor.

Movies 21:9, Anime 16:9. Stuck in between.
I don't see how fast response time is going to help me out in gaming. DotA 2 only. 4k resolution is more preferred. About 25% videos are in 4k. Faster response time for Movies seems unnecessary.

Noted on Prism X315 Max. Skipping monitors below 30".
If I consider 27", 34" in 21:9 would be acceptable too.

I guess 16:9 for monitors above 27" are a little weird because the monitor height is taller than your usual vertical viewing angle especially if the monitor is close to you
More intuitive to look left and right then upward and down

Plus 21:9 makes better use of screen real estate for non gaming applications like film or even productivity.
You can easily view 2 browser tab side by side on a 21:9 but not a 16:9

Oh ya. Bingo. I forgot about the monitor height. Might be too tall for viewing.

if 21:9 monitor, which do you recommend? From budget to good colours. I am using GTX970 only. None of the AAA games interest me as of now. Still plays DotA 2, on and off. But more on videos. Prefer max settings on games.
