Monitor Recommendations

Oh ya. Bingo. I forgot about the monitor height. Might be too tall for viewing.

if 21:9 monitor, which do you recommend? From budget to good colours. I am using GTX970 only. None of the AAA games interest me as of now. Still plays DotA 2, on and off. But more on videos. Prefer max settings on games.

For 21:9 monitors it really depends on your needs and how hard you're willing to stretch your wallet. There are tons of models out there with the main differentiators being:

1. Panel type (TN - cheapest, VA, IPS - most expensive)
2. Resolution - most common is 3440x1440 but there are higher and lower resolutions
3. Refresh rate - most monitors are 60hz refresh rate. These are perfectly sufficient for web surfing/office work but gaming monitors support up to 240hz (at a premium)

The cool thing about 21:9 ultrawides when playing Dota is that you get a much wider field of vision on the map.
Go check it out on YouTube - you can actually see more on the left and right, very useful when playing sniper lol

I'm currently using a 24inch 60hz Dell but I'm considering the Alienware AW3420DW(~1.5k) and Dell LG34GN850 (~1.5k)

There are cheaper options from Asus, Acer etc but those will usually use a VA panel or lower refresh rates

1500 seems kinda high end. Alienware products by Dell always overpriced. But Dell warranty is elite.

Like I said it really depends on the specs you are looking for.
A 3440x1440 IPS with 2>= response time and 120hz will be around the 1.5k range
The LG and Alienwares are using the same panel hence the similar price points

If you're willing to compromise on the requirements there are more options out there. For instance the older Acer X34P with 100hz(120hz OC) is also a IPS is available for 1.2k.

If you're ok with a VA panel with 75hz you can consider the Samsung @ $700+

If budget is a concern then go for prism+. Their 34 inch widescreen is only $600 but you get what you paid for

If you're looking at a 30+inch 16:9 panel, Dell does actually have a VA panel that meets your requirements

Hijack a bit instead of making multiple threads.

looking for some recommendations. Have been reading reviews and what not but still on the fence. My use case,

- MacBook Pro
- Mainly used for work like docs, PDFs, PPT, surfing, stocks so 34” ultra wide would be my spot. 38 and above is too big and likely heavy for my glass table
- don’t really game on my computer


Personally I have 2* LG 27 IPS screen at home while I use the dell 27 in the office. The thing is I find that my office dell monitor seems to be “sharper” in terms of colour and accuracy.

I don’t game so the high refresh rate is not that enticing for me, but if can get it why not lol.

Mainly I have narrowed down to the following but any suggestions are welcomed:

- dell: 3419W, about to be about 1.3K SGd
- LG: 34WN80C, about to be 950 SGD or so
- Xiaomi 34 144hz: about 570 SGD

Notably the price points are way different hence it doesn’t make a real comparison but if I can save some pennies, why not! Both dell and LG have USB C which makes my cable management clean.

Any feedback from users would be greatly appreciated. All the prices about are ok, granted the dell I would feel more pinch lol, about to pull the trigger for LG but would like to hear some opinions
