Capacitors don't spoil nowadays, unless it's electrolytic from tier 3 brand like Jamicon, or tier 2 brand like Teapo if mounted next to a heatsink.

Unless you suffered from tremor, anyone with soldering iron can replace solder through capacitors.

We ain't talking about 0402 SMT capacitors, no? I can't solder 0402 without the help of magnifying glass.

think it is at least $50 for the monitor diagnosis / repair in sls even though it may be just a simple capacitor replacement.

Sorry pal, I never once seek help from any repair shop in SLS/SLT for electronic repair work, all the devices repaired are DIY, no idea which shop doing it.

Although likely due to failed capacitor, there are cases I encountered are failed voltage regulator.

Honestly, too time consuming providing repair service.

You need to liaise with them to bring in, diagnostic, repair, test run and contact them for collection. I can't be available all day waiting for them to collect and re-arrange collection time if any changes.

The ROI is simply too low, better dump it and buy new unit (with warranty) for most users. The transport cost and time for the 4 trips to-and-fro including repair is not economical IMHO.

Different case for my own devices which I'm in total control when/where to buy spare part to start the repair work. For devices design and built by me, I have all the components, thus, need not rush to SLT/SLS or wait for RS delivery or from oversea. You don't expect the user to wait for me to visit SLT or after RS delivered the component, most if not all will tell you they need it ASAP, the best option is buy new unit. :)

Get people to bring to your residence and tell them need to wait, and also not 100% fix, there will be people who can accept the conditions.

But I have a saying, that nowadays, to find people who can actually fix stuff, their day job's pay is probably higher than what you're expecting to pay them.
Heck, in Singapore, you see so many inept technical people still collecting high pay.

Monitors are quite affordable, not worth to repair just to extend its life.

brought to sls... no luck they couldn't fix it.. tried opening it myself and I couldn't find any bad capacitors... I guess i'll just keep this for parts... I have 2 more monitors of the same kind... annoying though as I don't have my 3 screen rig anymore
