mine was turned on, i dun even know when it was turned on, and it dosnt matter, the impt thing is i checked after reading this thread, and now i turned it off.
because facts matters. important to compartmentalise and not conflate things

so knowing the fact that the default is disabled, it means i sldnt check bcos i didnt realise it was turned on on my phone?
i didn't say that. i am saying they are 2 different matter.

if you look at the chain of posts.

user market_observer is suggesting that it doesn't come disable as a default

stillgottheblues said otherwise.

instead of addressing whether it is factually true or not. market_observer talk about a different point altogether.

facts matters

and im saying nobody cares. it has no practical value knowing if it comes disabled by default or not.

i know it comes disabled by default => i sld check my phone setting
i know it dosnt come disabled by default => i sld check my phone setting
nobody mentioned anything about it being disabled by default => i sld check my phone setting
everyone in this thread mistakenly tot it didnt come disabled by default => i sld check my phone setting
everyone in this thread knows that it come disabled by default => i sld check my phone setting

You are adding noise and derailing this thread over a trivial, unimportant point. No wonder TS can't be bothered to reply to you. Already say important point is to check phone whether this dangerous option is disabled or not. Mephist0pheLes also told you same thing again and again.

your statement already factually incorrect.

nobody cares = 0 ppl cares.

but that can be proven to be false with just 1 person saying it matters. and i am the one pointing out.
i know it comes disabled by default => i sld check my phone setting
i know it dosnt come disabled by default => i sld check my phone setting
nobody mentioned anything about it being disabled by default => i sld check my phone setting

again 2 separate things.

it is not mutually exclusive.

nobody say we can only choose between 1) making sure facts are correct and 2) what should the due diligence be

Well i disagree. fact matters.

as i mentioned above, i never say it isn't important to check.

it is indeed important to check.

but it is not mutually exclusive between making sure facts are correct and ensuring due diligence is being done

I don't know what is the default setting for Android phones. I can only speak from personal experience that a phone I checked had this dangerous setting enabled for Chrome browser. Important point is to disable it and remember to disable it after enabling it for whatever reason, like after installing Singapore Pools app.

Focus on the important point. Check phone and disable "install unknown apps" option if it is enabled.

I don't know what is the default setting for Android phones. I can only speak from personal experience that a phone I checked had thisdangerous setting enabled for Chrome browser. As to whether the option was deliberately enabled, I don't care. Important point is to disable it and remember to disable it after enabling it for whatever valid reason.

ok so you acknowledge that what you said earlier might not be correct. because you said you dunno.

it's not some conspiracy, it can be proven if you so wish to do a factory reset, but is not essential. just letting you know things can be fact checked

there can be many important points that co-exist at the same time. it doesn't need to be mutually exclusive.

making sure we protect ourselves is one thing

making sure facts are correct without going into conspiracy theories or falsehood is another.

Sidetrack a bit. There is a Ignore feature in this forum. You are not the only one if you decide to do so. Trust me it will make your weekend much happier.

My phone:
Biometrics and Security.
Then has "Install unknown apps"
When I tap on that, I see a list of apps. Under each of these apps it says " not allowed"
So I'll agree that that's the default.
However , TS was trying to be helpful. So what if he was incorrect?! No harm done. We just check our phones to see our settings.

Someone kindly starts this thread to warn us about a dangerous setting on Android to protect our money. Instead of thanking him, you rudely accuse him of spreading conspiracy theories or falsehood.

Can you point out which part of his post spread conspiracy theories or falsehood? Are you jumping to conclusion yourself? People like you will drive away the good people who contribute to this forum. If you cannot add value to this thread, then at least don't be rude to people who do.

Your part about fact-checking default setting of Android phone is also wrong. Doing factory reset can only verify the default setting of a particular brand/model of Android phone. Every manufacturer may have different default settings. If you want to say this option is the default setting of Android phones, then you have to check all of them. How to check all of them? Of course nobody knows.

there are a lot of PSA threads being started all the time that doesn't mean it is necessary to thank everyone. so lets not conflate that.

By not responding to the point put forth by stillgottheblues and just digressing to a different is to me sowing doubts and that to me is conspiracy / falsehood. <- this is my opinion and I am putting forth my point respectful. I don't think i am being rude. If you think I am rude and contravened forum rules, it's your prerogative to report my posts for the moderating team to adjudicate if i am rude.

Sure point taken. but you do agree that it is possible to at least fact check some, rather than broad brush say it doesn't come disable by default?

If I were TS, I also will not respond to a trivial point raised by you. Where got so much time to waste? LOL

So, not responding means spreading conspiracy and falsehood? Like that, you can anyhow make accusations liao. Maybe what you think is important but others may think it's trivial. So, let's not conflate that.

That's my perspective and my opinion and I do so within what's permitted by the forum rules. If you think it doesn't you can report my post(s) and let the moderating team adjudicate.

If the said user(s) think that they have no case to answer, they can choose not to engage.

Nobody can force anyone here to engage.

Sure. But now you accuse someone of spreading conspiracy theories or falsehood for not posting a reply. How? haha.
It's the individual decision on the course of action to be taken.

and for others to judge.

no right or wrong.
