last time there is more labor job but nowadays people are on books and computers all day to gain knowledge and catch up to rat race, also with how fast paced things stress levels are getting higher, mental cases are more, and people also cook less and eat out more.

when it comes to eating out, the food quality was good at about yr 2000 but now if u compare its definitely worse with smaller portion sizes because they are cheaping out on things like ingredients due to inflation and high rental

unless u born in wealthy family this is generally how it is
