Noob senior need help.
Computer stopped working.
Checked Psu with paper clip test- seems to be working. Measured voltages on pins, seem to be ok.

Where can i get mb tested to confirm its dead as i read also that it can still be psu.

Need recommendation for cheap but reliable replacement.

Original mb z77 extreme 4, ( computer inherited from my son)
Dont need that specks a i only use it for browsing and emailing etc.

Just for info: Using on board graphics,
CPU i5-3570K.

Thank you

Can't tell which component is spoilt based on above info. You can try Nigel's shop at Sim Lim Square level 2 to test the MB. Offhand, can't remember which unit.

Anyway, you can source replacement MBs from Aliexpress though these are either OEM or could be used MBs.

edit: deleted the link as some referral thingie seemed to have slipped in. From aliexpress.com, search "socket 1155 motherboard"

maybe you can first try taking out the cmos battery for 10secs and put back again.

since you inherited from your son, maybe you can use his parts and test on the mobo see if its working.

for example replace the rams then if doesnt work then keep trial and error with the same method.

Hi. Thanks for the replies.
Forgot to add that i disconnected every thing from mb, even removed the cpu.
Left only the 24 pin and cpu power connections.
Followed instructions here- pcguide101.com - How to test mb without cpu.
No beeps or led flashes from mb.
So is it mb?

Googled for replacement, seems only refurbished/used mb available mainly from China.

What exactly is the issue?
When you turn on the PC, any fan spin or anything?
Very vague details so hard to advice.

If you want to know whether a motherboard is working or not, there are lots of troubleshooting
other than testing power supply.

Your MOBO 9 years old liao.
MOBO spoil also normal.

PC cannot startup,
1) RAM
2) CPU
3) MOBO
4) PSU

The CPU FAN running?
Internal Speakers got sound?
MOBO got light to say what error?

As i said, i tested the motherboard alone without cpu or any other parts, except case fan.
MB no beeps, no led lights, fan dont turn.
I know if ram is spoilt , at least the mb will have some error codes, beeps. So rams are ok.(2 x 8 Gb. Gskill F3-12800CL90)

When you turn on the PC, any fan spin or
None- no lights, no beeps , fans dont turn>
Dismantled all > Check psu by paper clip, measure volatges using multimeter - all ok. Psu fan turns.

Sometimes it can be faulty PSU or motherboard or both.
FYI PSU even if the fan turns doesn't mean it is working properly.
If you want to savage this PC than suggest bring to a shop let them diagnose.

Finally got comp working.|
Bought refurbished mb which initially didnt work well.
Supplier helped trouble shoot, maybe replace with another..
After few tries also got it reactivated.
Wasn't any problem with PSU.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
