Hi everyone, people have come to me asking me what to do for Mother’s Day so I’ve compiled a list of special things that I do to appreciate my mum on Mother’s Day. Hope it helps!
Tips for Mother’s Day
1. A Heartfelt Card
A card is the bare minimum to give our Mums for all the hard work she’s done to bring us up – homemade if you have the time!

Alternatively, if you have no time, you can buy a card from Popular and write in it (Not Recommended!
What to write in the card? Some tips:
• Show your appreciation
• Be Sincere and Genuine
• Address any deep-seated issues between you (Ouch!)
• Something that she will remember and treasure forever
• Reminiscence about good times (you can also attach pictures and polaroids for them!)
• If you have kids, get them to do something fun like put their handprints in them!
2. Spend Good, authentic time with them
What Mothers want most is to spend quality time with us. Nowadays, everyone is so busy with our careers, our own families that we do not really spare much time for our mums. A good way to show our appreciation of them is to SPEND THE WHOLE DAY WITH THEM. You do not have to bring her out to posh restaurants; in fact, your Mum might appreciate it more if you could stay at home and show her your love!
Some ideas that I have used in the past:
• No work day for Mummy! Clean up the house, wash the dishes, cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for her…do all the chores
• Offer to help her shift around furniture to give the house a new look (this can take up the whole day and it’ll be great fun!)
• Watch TV together
• Sleep together for the first time in a long time
• Do up each other’s hair…come up with your own activities, the list is endless!
• If your mum likes shopping, bring her out shopping and give her a treat!

3. A Bouquet of Flowers is a MUST
For some reason, Mums really love flowers. You should choose a bouquet that suits your Mum’s personality. Surprise her with a fantastic bouquet of flowers! I know my Mum just goes absolutely crazy over a beautiful bouquet. You can consider flowers from a number of shops like Far East Flora, but the cheapest and best I’ve ordered from is a small little-known online flower retailer:
www.FloralGarageSG.com , which has excellent customer service. However, for those who prefer really posh and AWESOME bouquets, you can consider www.FloralMagic.com.sg !
Here are some big and reliable flower names:
Flowers: www.FarEastFlora.com, www.WonderfulFlora.com, www.xpressflower.com
Mum can place these flowers in a vase and leave them out for the whole week, brightening the entire house.
Surprise your mum with appropriate bouquets, and brighten up her day

― Luther Burbank
4. Home Made Cakes, Cookies, or Desserts!
This is one of my favourite things to do for my mum. You can find any number of delicious recipes for the type of cakes your mum likes. Banana Cakes, Chocolate Cakes, Fruit Cakes, Muffins, Pies, Ice Cream, there are so many different things you can do!
Lastly, remember that no single act can make your Mum happy, make sure that you show your appreciation and love for her through your daily actions and words, and she will be happy.
HAVE FUN!
Hope you enjoyed my list!
Feel free to add any suggestions/opinions to this thread!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
