I will like to check if anyone has stay at Mount Koya temple before?
I know that Japanican has some recommendation but I am not sure which is better. If you have stay there, can I seek your advise which temple to stay or avoid?

As for Miyajima, has someone stay there for a night?
Do you think is worth it or better make it a day tour instead?

Appreciate all Japan advise.

Cheers.

I've stayed at a ryokan on Miyajima before, and enjoyed the peaceful feel after most of the day trippers have left the island.
It is also good that I could catch both the evening and morning low tide timings (it was at 7am and 7pm on the day of my visit, this timing will change from day to day) so that we could walk right up to the torii gate.
Most shops closes pretty early though, about 4-5pm.
I didn't really come across any convenience store, though I did saw a local mini-mart hidden at 1 of the smaller streets behind the main shopping street.

Mt Koya... eh stayed at Ichijouin. Good experience. But I heard there is a temple that caters specially to foreigners who don't speak Japanese. So they will explain everything in English. Good if you like this kind of thing.

Miyajima... stayed in a ryokan near the shopping street. Expensive for the average quality. Perhaps you can try booking the one in the forest - Momotaro or something. More unique at least.

Stay in Miyajima if you got the budget, 2 years ago, I paid 600+ for 2 pax a night during the Autumn season peak. The food was good, we tried almost every street store :p

Hi!

I'm planning to do a day trip to Koyasan.
It seems that the World Heritage Ticket is for 2 days? Will it be still worth it if i'm going just for a day trip? TIA!

the pass is 3400yen, and the two way ride from Namba is 1260x2, one day unlimited Bus at Koyasan is 830, so total is 3350. So purely on transport cost, one day case you dont need to get the pass, but you wont get to enjoy those entrance tix discounts from the pass. The pass gives 20% discount for the main sights.

Pass discount for:
20% discount coupons on admission fees
20% discount coupon for the Reihokan Museum
20% discount coupon for the Kondo (Golden Hall)
20% discount coupon for the Konpon Daito (Great Stupa)
20% discount coupon for Kongobu-ji Temple
