next week going over.. must wear black ah? night market will be open over next weekend?

Black or white shirts/tops are acceptable choices for next 30 days. Anything that's toned down and leaning toward greyscale should be fine. Anything bright (e.g. orange) maybe considered disrespectful.

I went to Amarin yesterday and all clothing stores are selling black based outfits.

So far, things are very scaled down. Lights turned down, shades drawn and no or very low music. There was also a Buddhist holiday with no alcohol sale yesterday .. that was fairly well enforced from Saturday midnight to Sunday midnight.

I read news that it is better to wear black or white to show respect for the king. There are cases whereby the thais are unhappy with people who doesn't wear black or white. And there was two cases, two thai lady was bad mouthing the king, one was forced to kneel infront of the king and pray for hours and another one was slapped and kick. :(:(

This is a typical scene that should serve as a guide to peoplee who want to know the appropriate attire when visiting Thailand during this period. This is how people dress when going about their normal activities, eg taking the MRT, not just if you are heading to the Grand Palace http://www.voanews.com/a/mourning-thais-die-clothes/3554429.html
No bright coloured trimmings or details. Even bags are taken into consideration.

Well, there is now a new industry in Thailand to get your clothes dyed black, as appropriate black clothes are in short supply.

No need to wear all black. Just wear something dark. I notice tourists on the streets & BTS wearing their usual.

The shop front displays black clothing but inside the shop, it's the usual merchandise. So no worries about having nothing to buy, except black clothing.

Also the BTS stations and within the trains, no more blaring of advertisements. It's much quieter now.
