Moving files from spoilt computer. Help!

I am new to this forum and I need help from you guys!

I had a computer that I used around 4-5 years. It suddenly made a beeping sound and got spoilt, and I couldn't find a method in Singapore to solve the problem. (I am Korean student in Singapore. LOL) I could call for Korean technician in Singapore but I got personal reasons why I won't call him. Bleh.

Anyway, the case is that I bought an i5 Intel Dell Computer about few months ago and I want to move the files inside the spoilt computer to the new one. I searched up by my own for solutions. Right now, I think I cleared away some doubts with those words already. However, I still have doubts to clear at here. Please help me!

Here are the questions :
1) What kind of solution(s) could be made to move the files from the old, spoilt computer to the new, i5 computer?

2) I am planning to make internal hard disk into external hard disk to move the files. ST3500320AS is the internal hard disk's model number and I found out that it is 3.5 inch and is a SATA. (It is from Seagate.)
a) Is there any shop in Singapore that sells the casing for internal hard disk, which turns it into external hard disk? (I am searching for 3.5 inch with SATA mode.)
b) Do I need to put this hard disk into anti-static bag? If yes, where can I find it?

3) I would like to store all the parts that can be recycled.
a) How can I know if they can still be used?
b) How do I store them in a safe way?
c) Any suggestions for DIY methods for making my own CPU for computer?

Lastly, I would like to buy them offline instead of online because I am going to buy in on the day itself. I have to do this ASAP because I want to do it before school starts.

assuming the beeps, is mostly caused by bad Ram sticks and the hard disk is not damaged.

simply connect your old hdd to your new PC and copy the files over to the new pc. ( Use a sata cable,(buy one online,its cheap) there is no need for a new casing for your old HDD)

Data transfer quite easy

Just buy a 3.5" external casing for your 3.5" hard disk and install into it.
Plug into the new Dell USB port and you are ready to transfer files if the hard disk is fine.

Just go buy a external 3.5 Sata enclosure for ur old hdd ~

As suggested above, detach the old HDD from your spoilt computer and:

• Plug it directly into your new PC as a new drive. -OR-
• Put it in an external casing and connect to your new computer via USB plug.

So far, I have never felt the need and nothing has been fried yet. But you can ground yourself by touching the metal casing before touching the HDD itself to play safe.

Not sure if there's any diagnostic procedures. But you may have to troubleshoot your failed component by testing one-by-one, starting with processor, mainboard and 1 stick of RAM. Keep adding the rest (e.g. graphics card, network card) one-by-one until you hit failure.

Not sure if I'm harming you by suggesting you to go Sim Lim Square. But if you're into DIY PC, this is the place you have to venture in and get out with your wallet intact, especially when you're a foreigner. You have to know what you want and the appropriate pricings for them. So research before you go, know your hardware and prices well, which shops to go to, and never ask the salesmen to recommend what to buy.

Good luck! you need plenty of it to survive the SLS hellhole.

Sorry if it sounded offensive.

I was just trying to warn TS that in SLS, not all salesmen are angels and not all shops are safe havens. If he/she unknowingly patronise a black shop, bad things may happen, especially when he's a foreigner which salesmen can easily tell. I shall leave TS to find out which are the "black" shops to avoid, and the reputable ones ("safe zones") to visit.

I myself have not been scammed, and I will not hesitate to patronise SLS to buy things. In fact, I have bought many good things from SLS at a good price. But it's the truth that there is no shortage of foreigners and foreign tourists being scammed in SLS by unscrupulous sales tactics. I was just warning TS to be mentally prepared if he decides to go.
