MR before 7th high key

Hi Guys,

So recently I'm called back for reservist. I checked my ns portal and it states that I have attended 4 high key. But when I went back for my 5th cycle, I was given the MR watch and service medal.

My CSM told me that this is my 6th High Key and next year is my last cycle. So, my question is.. did the unit Clark mess up? Or did mindef mess up? I've completed 3 low key and 5 High and I'm very sure it's not my 6th cycle. But if they really mess up of course I will take the free 1 cycle off haha. Did this happened to anyone else?

by right you only get the watch and medal on your 9th ict.

I only got mine after 10 cycles.

I was thinking the same. The NS clerk might have accidentally inserted TS's name together with his cohort who did not defer any ICT.

Watch is given during your 10th ORNS cycle regardless of high/low, together with confirmed attending 6 high key. NS.sg info double confirms this, as thats what i got during my 6th high+10yr ORNS, and i attended 1 more high key after that during covid period to get MR-ed

some units will give out watch and medal on 9th cycle based on MINDEF directive while some units prefer one shot give out everything (watch, medal and MR cert) at 10th ict.

ultimately your unit has discretion on when to give the watch to you, even if you already qualified for it.

if u no occifer, can 1 ICT also MR la.. as long u 40 years old will MR. my unit from 2005-2015 no activate, in 2016 first time call back really got some men 39 years old, come one time then MR liao

Apparently, what we were told is that "high key" doesn't just mean an in-camp of 7 days or more during the year; if all your days of call-ups (including 0.5 days for IPPT, random days for "cohesion", whenever you need to in-pro / out-pro, etc) in a year meets 7 days or more, that year counts as a high key.

So apparently, many of our low keys became high keys because of the above.

We're are still not entirely clear on the mechanics, but we are pretty sure it's not some clerical error because some 80% of all the specs MR-ed, and those that didn't deferred some cycles or didn't turn up for cohesion

MINDEF should be clear about the accumulation of days required to clock a high key for that work year

so exactly u have how many HK ICTs and ORNS activity prior to gg bck for the so-called 6th ICT?

think if u hit 7 HK & 10 ORNS
can qualify for MR

like u have pointed out in 1st para

within the same WY, u accumulate minimal 7 days of NS-related activity e.g one low-key ICT of 6-days duration, one 1/2 day call-up for IPPT, another 1/2 day for Mob manning standby for example

--> will hit 7days and thus in a way your LK count for the WY gets bumped up to HK. Can faster reach the HK minimum count of 7...and likely will also be faster to reach 10ORNS years to meet the MR condition unless u decide to extend or ROVER lor

if there's a SAF100 or equivalent (for Police and SCDF NSman)tht indicate you are called up for ORNS activity, shouldn't that be counted?

i did a total of 8 ICT and i MR already.

3 low key and 5 high key.

The trick is this,

DONT TAKE IPPT DURING ICT. TAKE IPPT OUTSIDE OF ICT

for every time u book a IPPT in a FCC (outside of a ICT), you considered 0.5 days. So MINDEF add all this 0.5 days and tag it to my 3 low keys, making my low keys becoming high keys, thus I MR early after just 8 ICTs in total.

Gotten my watch and cert too. it was a surprise notification for alot of people in my unit in 474 SAR.

but each work year with low key ICT how many IPPT session did you booked?
