Same type as the Acer B1... budget tablet... and the screen is not clearly indicated IPS. You might be better off buying a Chinese tablet?

Specifications-wise, this MSI would blow the Acer Iconia B1 away. Hands-down flat. Let us compare:

CPU-wise, MediaTek MTK 8317T is on average 50% slower than Amlogic AML8726-MX.

GPU-wise, PowerVR SGX531 can't match up to the capable & widely-supported Mali400. Compatibility is important in a fragmented Android eco-system, even more so if you enjoy gaming.

However, please take note of this as mentioned in the FAQ: MSI Global ? FAQ

Similar to many Chinese tablets, the firmware is not properly optimised so in order to conserve battery, the tablet cuts off Wifi connection soon after placed into standby. That means you will not receive push notifications, push email or even VOIP calls like Skype until you manually exit Standby aka press the Power button to check manually.

Even if you choose to keep Wifi on during standby in advanced settings, the firmware ignores this setting completely. FYI, AC Ryan tablets also suffer from this issue/bug, seems to be common problem with China-OEM tablets.

Using the workaround listed creates high battery drain as the system cannot go to sleep properly compared to Android natively keeping Wifi on during standy.

On my Yuandao N70HD running original ROM, I used an app on the Google store that reconnected to wifi as soon as the tablet woke up. After I flashed an updated ROM, wifi now auto-reconnects. Not sure whether this is because the tablet doesn't sleep properly or Android is being smart about it, but I haven't noticed any significant deterioration in battery life.

It's not about reconnecting to Wifi when the tablet wakes up, for certain usage scenarios you actually want Wifi to be running silently in the background even when the tablet is put to sleep so that the moment there is a push-type notification you will receive it.

Example is the tablet will sound off when an email comes in or someone calls you on Skype ( assuming you have Skype running). With a number of Chinese tablets, Wifi is cut off in standby or sleep mode so you don't realise you missed your calls, emails & messages until the next time you pick up & use your tablet.

Hi, i had just bought it yesterday at PC Show.
A good offer at $179 with quite a number of freebies.
Have not really start to use it yet due to charging.

Any thing good or bad to take note of ?

Yuandao's firmware is usually optimized for the tablet, otherwise the updates that come later optimize for battery life, wifi connection strength, etc... I have the N90, the battery life is really good on standby. Plus the wifi resume from sleep is pretty good. But the wifi does cut not cut off on the screen powering off. My apps update even with the tablet sleeping.

Are there any shops selling this tablet? Didn't want to go fight through the PC show crowd.

If can get the $169 PC show price then worth a shot, otherwise probably wait for Memopad HD 7

Saw it today at SLS selling at $199. Think it was a shop on the 3rd floor. Personally, at this price i would recommend the Tab 2 instead. Somebody managed to get the Tab 2 at ard $240 with free Samsung case and/or msd card? Challenger used to bundle the case but now they only give the msd card

In any case, all of these 7" tablets will be over-shadowed by the Asus Memo Pad HD7 when it arrives in Aug

Just realised that this msi tablet is almost identical in specs to my Ainol Aurora II ie Amlogic dual-core, mali 400 plus 1024x600 ips screen, 1 gb ram, 16gb internal memory (i think msi is only 8gb) And i managed to get my Aurora II for only $120 bnib bec the shop was clearing its old stock. Am very happy with this tablet (the Aurora II) esp the fantastic screen. The wifi Does switch off when the tablet goes into standby but the waking up is pretty fast

Kind of surprised that a big company like MSI would release a tablet with specs that are used by MIC tablets more than six to nine months ago. Otoh, even HP cant come up with anything better than its 7" slate with similarly ordinary specs

Hp slate 7 won this tablet when MSI was priced at 249SGD....

for 199 i rather get a quad core 8inch tablet....
the pc show price was good with freebies.. now its tilting back onto the pricy region...

Bought the enjoy 71 tablet. Any one else notice the high drain on the battery?
Charged at100% ,left on standby overnight and left 33% by morning. No apps running.

Also, anyone knows how to do screenshots on this tablet?

common problem in these china tablets
1) hardware problem = die liao (wasted $$)
2) software = wait update should be ok.
