My MSI card has been ****ing up lately lol. If I put fan profile on auto and play game, sometimes 1 fan will start spinning to 100%, and the other fan doesn't spin at all. After the gpu cools down to say, 40c, still spin 100%. Need to shut down the computer fully before it will stop.

I went to corbell, guy tell me never see this problem before, rma to msi need 6-8 weeks :(, say problem is caused by me flashing the wrong vbios, but problem present already before flashing. He say he flash back the correct vbios i go home see if still got problem.

Go home, don't know is lucky or what, first day no problem, then suddenly second day problem come back, sad. So i work around it by manually setting a fan speed in afterburner, I set 40% play gw2 about 60-70c no problem. Then today suddenly got another problem, suddenly the fan just spin to 100%, I need to not do manual fan control then it won't spin to 100%, if I set fan like 25%, it'll just spin to 100%, and even if you shut down and cold boot, still 100%. I need to set fan speed to auto in afterburner then when I boot it's not spinning, I set fan speed manually after that it just go to 100% again. Wa, headache sia.

And really rma need 6-8weeks? That's damned bloody long sia. Got any one else got same problem or not, help leh, ty.

will they provide a similar spare gpu during your rma downtime? if of similar spec then you still ok i feel.
if they send back overseas for rma, whats the diff with getting it from amazon straight besides having a middlemen to do the rma process for you? the potential cost savings from amazon can be used to offset the rma shipping fees.

Sibei rare issue.

Bad point is the gtx970 cards across all brands got no dual bios. Not unless its custom made card. If there is one could switch it over to the default bios.

By right, on start of pc the fan should spin till just before entering windows page then the fan will turn off.

Rma standard, if there is no stocks atm and they cant rectify on their own they will have to shipped it back to taiwan. Say is 6-8weeks. But usually thats a time frame given. If its early they will tell you.

BUT did you do a flash on bios before? Dont say since day one or not.

ya I flashed the vbios with a nvflash package from here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=184740.0

according to the guy is because I flashed it wrongly thats why got issues.

He never say leh, if never say should be don't have right lol. I actually buy most of my stuff from amazon one, is only expensive or heavy thing like gpu cpu case i buy locally, because buy from amazon need wait 1 week then if over 400 sgd still need pay tax xD. I rma my corsair h100i from amazon back to corsair hk total time 1week plus only, like 10 days, thats why i hear 6-8 weeks i shock sia.

Then it could be a corupted/bad bios flash during at that point of time. But either way.

So long as the distro detects that bios mod not under our region batch. They will reject it and send back to Manufacturer.

If you have flashed back original bios and give them back the card they wouldnt have know. And you might be lucky that they will exchange 1 to 1 on the spot.

What other softwares have you used in regards to this gpu. Like msi afterburner? Etc?

I meant starting it like with my fingers, i accidentally nudged the 0% fan with my fingers and it started, and then the other one went back to normal as well. Looks ike a hardware issue

If hardware issues your fan probably wont even move le. Just my opinion.

because when I took the video of the 100% and 0%, I noticed that the 0% fan was trying to start occasionally, you know it kinda vibrates a bit but doesn't start spinning. When I started the 0% fan with my finger, the both fans ramped to the settings I set in afterburner, 40%.

I think the whole approach to this was wrong.
Firstly, any self-modification to the hardware/bios is as good as acknowledging that you know you are voiding your warranty.

Back to the thread that you linked :
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=184740.0
As posted by the thread starter,
*Please note that this just covers the issue with the fans randomly starting and not the problem of one fan not starting at all on earlier cards which is a defect that requires rma.*
that which might not be similar to your problem either.
We do not know if any parameters adjusted in the .rom could have messed up any thing so that is why it needs to be sent back to MSI for diagnostics.

As to the return of card to you with the original bios,
I believed it was not meant to flashed to be returned you.
More that it was meant to be returned to MSI as they would have void the warranty if a bios modded card was sent back.
Just that during the testing, it seemed to be running fine when you checked it
so you decided to give it a try again.

Apparently, that did not solve the problem so we will still have to have it sent back for checking .
We can arrange for a spare card to be loaned to you for system up time.
Pls note this is not SOP.
RMA period is an industry standard but if it returns earlier,
we will inform you too.
In the mean time, I have dropped MSI an email to inquire more details. :)
(They are on holiday now till Wednesday.)
