Hi all,

just gotten a MSI R9 390 yesterday, like to check whats the safe range of temperature for the card to be in?

My bro played Darksider 2 for awhile and noticed that the temperature raised to 94degree..

94 is rated operating temps.

Set fan profiles on MSI Afterburner.

I believe that the 390 comes with a 0 fan movement on below 50deg.

So the fan profile set is way too silent. Might wanna increase the fan profiles using the fan curves.

Set 45deg at 30
Set 50deg at 40
Set 55deg at 45
Set 60deg at 55
Set 70deg at 65
Set 80deg at 70

What kind of game settings your bro set?

All max and inclusive of intensive AA settings? Also note that if darkside is going for 200fps for your 390, make sure to set it lower, as 200fps or more takes up more power, and also heats up a lot more.

Oh. I think he max out the graphics settings.. not sure about the FPS he getting though..

What FPS should he limit it to?

The case he using is a Corsair 450D 2 default front intake and 2 top exhaust with AIO cooler at the rear as Intake..

What is the fan he using?

Try using VSync and see if the temps reduce further.

If AA is set at the maximum, the card will be on full stress load for that game.

Will ask him to turn on VSync and see.

The two intake is the stock fan the case provided. One exhaust is also the stock rear fan provided with the case. The other i added is the artic cooling F12:o

Thinking if should add a 3rd fan to the top or not.. but then will become negative pressure :(

i don't think it's air related. to be sure, u can leave yr case open and see the improvements, usually not by much. 90+ is way too high for non ref cooler. could be software? are other apps open besides the game and afterburner?

last resort, on aircon, leave case open and see the results. i wonder what's Sapphire 390 temps like.

Only game, skype and afterburner. Maybe is due to the game settings my bro used in darksider 2. But he said that the option very limited in the video menu.

The top part of the casing also heats up quite abit.

My MSI R9 390 reached 94 degrees on stock fan profile also.

When I play Sleeping Dogs on Ultra 1440p. It's really hot even though reviews say it isn't. But it seems to be okay running at those temperatures.

Just got to tweak your fan curve and take advantage of the quietness of the Twin Frozr and your temperatures should fall.

Tweaked the curves. Hopefully the card can tahan the temp
