Whats your budget and what games do you play ?

Any specific requirements (e.g. must be light / battery life (not really relevant here though))

Alienware for the WIN... their After sales support is good. Replacement of parts like GFX and Mainboard is no question from them and straight forward. :s22:

why not try acer netbook bro only 499 :)

Because that's not a gaming notebook and Acer sucks so bad. They always start failing after 1 year.

He's looking at gaming laptops and you are recommending a basic, non-gaming netbook?

Aftershock is just a Sager notebook with a different sticker.

im not too sure what u have against Sager though... for similar specs Alienware and MSi is sure to burn your pocket...
and Aftershock provides great services...
but then again its up to the user...
each to his own...

I got MSI GS60 this year. Everytime I open up to play my laptop I feel like it's every worth every bit of money spent on it.

Whenever I turn on the laptop, its chroma keyboard goes bling bling, I feel damn song liaoz. When I carry it around the house, it is relatively light. 1.8Kg, so no complains either.

Both brands uses Clevo chassis, but that does not mean that service level is the same.

Not sure if you had bad experience with Sager, but to date, I have not seen a perfect laptop. They all have their problems, but likely will improve over time.

For me, I give my vote to Aftershock simply because,

1) They provide great after sales service,
2) They offer better value, if you compare against other brands with similar specs. At least for me, I don't see overall quality being compromised because its cheaper.

Actually, please see MSI brochures. We have prices starting from $1199 for different specs and budget to cater to different gamers. :)

Disclaimer : I am using the Aftershock S-15 now with 980M

Was in the market looking for a 980M laptop and I found that the most value for money is actually the Asus G751 that would clock in at about $2400 (I think that's the last PC show price). I felt that its the greatest value because you get a SSD and extra ram compared to other equivalent brands (if you just compare solely on price). However, its heavy and bulky and that was a deal breaker for me.

I chose to go with the S15 in the end as I needed it to be somewhat portable and could customise it to my heart's content. Some changes I made was a 500GB M.2 SSD, 16GB of Ram, no O/S and no branding on the laptop. Its perfect for me and the Aftershock guys are truly accommodating.

I'd recommend GT72, great cooling with extra gaming features. SteelSeries keyboard is really good in quality compared to the other brands. If you prefer faster storage, you can upgrade from 2-4 SSDs with RAID setup :D
