guys, if you really want MSI wind with 6 cell, then hold off buying!!! wait till 6 cell batteries are available before committing!

btw, does anyone know what's the difference in the materials required for 3 cell and 6 cell batteries? if its just difference in the number of cells, then they could have just produced more 6 cell batteries and less 3 cell batteries? kind of lame to say shortage of batteries when 3 cells are readily available(unless they tell me the 3 cell batteries are stockpiled since way back)
it's marketing strategy.

offer 2 variants, and charge much more for the better version that everyone wants. leaves everyone with no choice.

Erm, 6-cell batteries obviously require twice as many cells as 3-cell batteries. By producing 3-cell batteries, MSI gets double the output.

Hi Guys

I am have been wanting to have a UMPC and now it seems like I do have a choice between MSI Wind and EeePC 1000. I cannot seems to find any difference between the 2 in terms of specs and the buying decision boils down to pricing I guess. Do you guys see it differently assuming I choose the SSD model?

Thanks

I bet the Wind will launch first. MSI has already sent out samples for people to test and review, and numerous sites are already taking pre-orders. For the Eee PC 1000, the first time it was seen was at Computex. That's 2 months slower than the Wind.

just a suggestion. maybe you can play around with the touchpad and keyboard before you decide. also the outlook and where all the ports are placed can help you decide also. :)

wonder if it is on sale tomorrow... just saw the ad by corbell in this month's issue of HWZ magazine. :D

Saw in the PC Show 2008 supplement that comes with this morning's Straits Times that MSI Wind notebook 'hot off the assembly line' will be available at Booth 1890 at $829. No mention of specs though hence, dunno whether it will comes with 3 or 6-cell battery. I will probably get it if it comes with 6-cell battery.

It's either bullsh!t from Corbell or ST. No signs of MSI wind until end of June says the salesman at booth 1890. Fcking pissed off.

Hi Sam,
No Wind in sight... not till another month.
Looking for a Photo viewer replacement is it? I think the Dell UMPC looks nicer leh! I'll wait a little to see what other manufacturers are coming up with.

Gotten the HP Mini-Note, it's not too bad for viewing photos and web surfing, maybe slightly overpriced but the quality and finishing is outstanding.

Did you redeem from Starhub on the spot or buy from HP? If the latter, any deals?

Bought mine from the HP launch on May15. I think the Starhub offer with free Mini-Note seems a good buy @ ~$60 per month with MOL 8M + Mobile BB, however this plan you need to pay for the Huawei device (a whopping ~$3xx almost $400)
