Hello All,

I haven't gotten any netbook before and seems I have fixed my option to MSI Wind hearing their very good reputation.

1) What is the best recommended model now? MSI U123 or a variant of U100?
2) Where to get it at good deal and what should be included?
3) Is it good enough to perform more than browsing and music? i.e. Adobe lightroom, etc?

1) For MSI netbooks, local distributor only has the MSI U100 Plus/ Plus-E whereby the only difference is that Plus is bundled with a 6-Cell battery, and the Plus-E with a 9-Cell battery. U123 is not available locally as of yet.
2) Both packages come bundled with a MSI sleeve case, optical mouse, screen wiper, recovery disc set, battery and AC adapter.
3) For web browsing and playback of music files, definitely no issues. I use it for office documents editing on the go as well. As for Adobe Lightroom, I can't comment, not too sure about this. :)

Dropped you a PM, btw.

Finally received my 7200mAh battery last evening. The postman stuffed it in my letter box.

Took it out of the box and plugged it in and the battery meter showed 100%, I started using about 10.30pm hibernate at 1am, this morning started doing data transfer from external HDD at 7.15am, at 8.06am showed 80% left with about 52 minutes of usage left. My wifi was on and connected all the time.

The battery meter usage time seems quite accurate but the perentage left seems weird. It stays stuck at 100% until the last hour of usage. I guess i will have to cycle the battery more.

The battery makes my Wind netbook quite hefty...now it weighs almost 1.5kg but i guess its worth it.

Eh the postman does not have to stuff it through the slot, nowadays the newer postboxes can be opened via a gate to facilitate the postman delivering bulking items such as mine.

Does the battery come with battery indicatoe like the new DELL battery?....just press the button it will show the battery meter led on the battery

Any of you guys have issues with the wireless coverage for the MSI Wind being very bad? Am using the Atheros AR5B91 chipset.. and compared to my other laptops, the range and link status is alot worse.. I have already updated to the latest set of drivers.

Advice much appreciated.. Thanks

MSI Wind U123H launched in Taiwan.

st-1561460-1.jpg

N280 1.66GHz
Inbuilt HSDPA 3.5G Modem
160GB HDD
2GB RAM (After free upgrade)
6-Cell Battery (1.3KG incl battery)

However specs seem to show that the inbuilt HSDPA supports only 1.8mbps downlink. (Not too confirmed about this though)

Priced at approx S$1028.

Pinky Love was a limited edition design whereby there is this heart design on the pink lid cover (Only available for U100 in Singapore, U100 Plus and onwards didn't have this design anymore). The current one is a solid pink colour without the heart design.

oic so your side have stock for Pinky Love & Champagne Pink mah? :)

for U100 Plus

RE

According to info on the net

MSI Wind U123H comes with 3.5G and U123T comes with TV tuner

3.75G would be better and built-in with TV tuner too
