Hey guys, i will be spending 1 day and 1 night @ mt fuji, and will be staying at Fuji Lake Hotel @ Kawaguchiko.

Any ideas as to where can i explore during the day time? Other than the tour bus and the Fuji Q Highland, what else can we do over there?

Thanks in advance for any inputs!

How about a bus up to mt fuji 5th station ? They run once climbing season begins. If you're game for it, it's an easy walk from 5th to 6th station. Only 100m elevation gain I think. Not sure when your trip is though.

There's also a kawaguchigo music box museum and some other random stuff there. Nothing fantastic but good to try and explore. Family friend/safe but boring.

The regional delicacy there is hoto noodles. Kinda like ban mian with super thick u mian. Should try that. Taste pretty good.

you can also go to tenjou-yama via the kachi kachi ropeway, it's quite cute and on a nice clear day... offers a lovely view of the lake and Mt. Fuji as well.

a regional specialty during the cold season is horse meat, if you'd like to try :)

Hi, thanks for the suggestion!,

i have planned the following @ Mt FUji(in sequence)

-Drop our bag at our Fuji Lake View Hotel
-Kawaguchiko 5th Station for lunch and some shopping(any convenience stall here? planning to buy some tidbits back to the hotel)
-Kachikachi-yama Ropeway then go tenjou-yama as mentioned by kunochi

to those who have been there, is this feasible? or very out of the way in this order? and any nice restaurant @ kawaguchiko 5th station for our lunch?

Hi

I am looking for a guided 1 day tour package to Mount Fuji and Hakone. Don't really want to go through the hassle of changing trains and buses etc as I am travelling with 2 kids.

Does anyone know a reputable and reasonably priced tour agency?

Thanks

u mean to pre-book a day trip before getting to Japan, can try JTB, NTA or Japanican. JTB & NTA has offices here in case you might want to enquire more for peace of mind :)

i remember at one of the entrances at shinjuku they have tours to hakone and fuji.

to TS, kachi kachi ropeway is really gd. on clear days, the view of fuji at the top is splendid! also, you may want to check out their forest tours (google: aokigahara)

The 1 day tours from JTB, NTA cost SGD$160 per adult is quite ex. Is this the market rate?

Will it be cheaper if I buy the package when I reach Shinjuku station?

if u're not planning to go on the day trip upon reaching Tokyo, perhaps can check if there's any cheaper alternatives at Shinjuku station. :) if not, then it's still not too late to book ur tour online. do check if ur hotel has anything on offer too

Maybe just take trains to the destinations and then flag a local cab for your local short trip is cheaper.

Thank.

Which month is considered peak and non peak?
Best time to climb?

Thk

Yo bro, its all in the link:

"The peak season for climbing Mount Fuji is during the school vacations which last from around July 20 to the end of August. The peak of the peak is reached during the Obon Week in mid August, when climbers literally have to stand in queues at some passages."

"Off Season

Some mountain huts open a few days before the start of the official climbing season and/or remain open until around mid September. Public transportation, is considerably less frequent or non-existent outside of the official climbing season, although off-season service has improved in recent years, especially during September.

While there is usually no snow on Mount Fuji from late June until October, temperatures at the summit can drop to far below zero in the shoulder seasons. Only experienced hikers should consider the ascent in late June or September. If there is snow on the mountain, appropriate mountaineering equipment and experience is required.

From October to around mid June, climbing to the summit is highly perilous due to extreme wind and weather conditions, snow, ice and a risk of avalanches."

"In order to encounter neither too large nor too small crowds, we recommend to climb Mount Fuji on a weekday in the first half of July before the start of the school vacations. The downside of a climb in early July is the weather, which tends to be somewhat more unstable than later in the season."
