aomori, itself is very small place..in my opinion lar. the interesting thing to see is the morning market and the bridge (can't remember the name though). had spent a nite there before.

2hrs Ltd Exp train between Aomori and Hakodate.
Costs 5140yen for reserved seat or 4830yen for unreserved seat for 1 way.

If you have 7day JR pass, you can just take 4hrs Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shin-Aomori, then from Shin-Aomori take the Ltd Exp train to Hakodate.

Ohhh! I always wanted to go Aomori! In fact I am planning to go Aomori/Akita and the Tohoku region in May! Hoping to catch sakura in Hirosaki in May though I might be a bit late for it! I heard so much about Aomori apples and I cant wait to sink my teeth into one when I am there! I heard the apple confectionery and apple juice there are very good indeed!

Pics I took from my recent trip to Hirosaki 2 months ago. Too bad I don't eat apples, cus there were lots of apple related products around.

Thanks Samtcy for your apples photos! I must have missed your post about Hirosaki in your travel photo thread! Let me go and view the photos again! Actually I wasnt too sure what to do in Aomori and I haven venture into Tohoku before so I am still doing much reading up for views on what to go too! Maybe later on I will properly create a thread about region specific travel (Tohoku) so as not to hijack this thread any further!

My frens say that apple picking is in autumn and there is an apple park in Hirosaki! I guess I would miss that if I go in May but then I do remember seeing apple trees in bloom with their pretty white flowers during May when I went Hokkaido one year!
