I did a full scan on most anti virus software, came out nothing. Whenever I run games like Dota 2 or CS GO, it will lag like crazy, even when i'm running chrome. it will sometimes hang. Any ideas why? I did some research and it might be my hard disk or graphic card or mother board. But need to double confirm.

Specs : ( Alienware X51)

Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit
i5-2320 @ 3GHZ
8gb RAM
1 TB storage
Nvidia GTX 555 4GB

Could be a failing hard disk. Experienced this twice and everything takes a long time to start up or launch.

Had this issue yesterday.

Everything was lagging. Rebooted and Win 10 was "scanning and repairing hard disk". After going into Win 10, clicked the HDD in File Explorer and got "Invalid parameter". No files can be read. Disk Management showed the HDD is now RAW.

Pulled that HDD out and system back to normal.

first step is to do clean up on ur hdd,go to program and features delete unneccesary files and software, make sure to use only one antivirus, remove add in web browser such as web search etc, lastly do disk cleanup

if still fail then remove graphic card, ram and clear the dust etc
use rubber eraser to clean the strip
hope the method works..GL:s13:

Check your C drive. Is it almost full capacity?
If it has less than 10% free space, then this problem might happen.

things start to run abit faster, but occasional lag. will the problem go away if i change to another hard disk?

Your hard disk is fine. I suggest you try a fresh reinstall of Win 7. You might want to take this opportunity to upgrade to a SSD. It will make your whole system faster.

get ssd and make it primary mainly for Windows
and make ur toshiba HDD as secondary to store movies and games etc...settle ur problem

Check service.msc. host service maybe eat up a lot of RAM. Did you install any China software for movies?
