My DNS-323 just conked out after 4.5 years of faithful service. Thinking of getting the DNS-320L as replacement, would like to check whether I can just transfer my harddisks directly into the DNS-320?

I'm on a tight budget (less than $200), are there other 2-bay models that I can consider that I can directly insert the disk drives (without reformat)?

Thanks in advance !

you have to ensure that the 320L supports ext2/3.

if format is inevitable, you can always read the drives contents using ext2fsd on a windows machine.

If you don't mind travelling to the west, I have an old DNS-320 (without the L) to donate :)
It's been sitting in my storeroom for almost a year :)

It is unlikely that DNS-320L will recognize the volume(s) from DNS-323 as the former use EXT4 filesystem whilst DNS-323 and DNS-320 uses EXT3. But if moving drive(s) configured as Standard/JBOD volume from DNS-323 to DNS-320 then it's possible according to this.

Hi guys

Thanks for the advice ! Looks like I'll definitely need the DNS-320 since it can take in my existing hard disks.

Hi Asure7 - I've PM you. Thanks ! :)
