HW improved a lot and their lates Mate serious was a joy to use
Slim, sexy, slick and very snappy OS

Alas, I have to go back to using non China Android phones and IOS
China phones with their customisation n restrictions of certain US apps
was a bummer for me
Infrequent, inconsistent or non existent notifications from apps I was using despite all the priority settings

I use critical important home automation apps from the US n their performance on HW/Xiaomi phones puzzles me
Hopefully they will get better in the next 2-3 OS releases

Which phone and apps are you using? I wouldn't say EMUI is perfect but you should be able get some kind of work around due to the power of Android.

The notification part is settings that you can toggle to make it work. EMUI is known for their aggressive power management but a few clicks and problems gone

Also changed to Mate 20 X after having only used iPhones in the past.

One thing that I feel is iOS better at push notifications? And how I'm able to read every single whatsapp messages on the notifications as compared to android :(

Im an android user since day 1 of smartphone era, recently I'm using iPhone as well as the company phone, I really can't get used to the apple o/s, on the other hand, I always hear about how good the ios is from šŸ users, I'm not saying which one is good, it really boils down to individual user's habit

Actually both Android and iOS are good since both can get the things done. I tend to like iOS more but I just switched to Huawei P20 this Thursday night for my personal phone from iPhone 6S and I do not see much problems other than those permissions request prompt. I am still carrying company phone (iPhone 6S as well) at the same time.

I believe you will soon get used to iOS. iOS is smooth and fast even for the three year old iPhone 6S. Not so sure how usable three year later for my P20. But then again P20 is about half the price of iPhone XR. iOS may look limited at times but soon you will realise the benefits of its simplicity and smoothness.

I used Motorola Atrix 2, Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE and Galaxy S4 LTE+ before switching to iPhone 6S in 2015. Then I still support my family members using Oppo R7, R11S and Xiaomi Mi Max. I also have 4 Android TV boxes. So I do not have problems with Android.

Agreed. i still use the iOS on a 6s plus and i like also that it is simple, don’t need much customization. It just works. I have lived without led notifications and it is not something i care for. Almost all bank apps support iOS. I am slightly disappointed some still don’t support Huawei phones.

Also some of the western based apps are not optimized and even crash on huawei. I wish this was something the reviews on youtube and other tech sites would share.

I like the iOS notes the best out of all the other options available. Now I am forced to use One Note to sync across all devices.

Most of the common apps used daily Android and iOS both also have. So I have no preference on that. The reason I change to Huawei is mainly because of bang for buck, the included prepasted screen protector and case is a nice touch. Camera better, battery bigger. I like Apple still but i feel they are starting to take their customers for granted such as bundling a normal charger for an expensive phone.

As company phones, I used iPhone 6s, now on iPhone 8 plus, personal phone mate 10 pro, after galaxy s7, as a side note, iPhone 8 plus supposed to be the same generation phone as mate 10 pro, but put two together, iPhone 8 plus is bigger yet with smaller screen.

You should compare iPhone X with Mate 10 Pro, flagship to flagship. Of course if you compare cost then that is a different story.

So there are still apps that won’t work with huawei?

There maybe apps becos HW is on Android 9 latest OS and some app developers may not have updated their apps for it. Personally, all my apps work fine but I'm not those that install ton of apps

So far I have not encountered any apps yet. I came from iPhone 6S and I almost installed one to one the non-Apple apps on the iPhone to my P20.

I feel quite a few apps are more smooth on the iPhone 6S (eg: HardwareZone forum) but at least the apps work on Huawei. The issues are with Android or the app developers and not Huawei.

So many android phone that I use so far quite satisfied for HW phone. Mainly because of camera, battery, headphone jack and price also. Use to have IOS for the past few years from 4 to 6s plus. The price higher and higher... All the apps that I needed after installed no issue.. Just don't have any notification display appear on 20x.. Hopefully they make it happen in future..

always hear iphone users complaining about this, incompatibility of apps on android but iphone don't have such issue

when asked to name just 1 app that is incompatible on different android phones, these people are unable to name even 1

when I first got my P20 Pro, VLC media player app could not be installed on it. (It says "incompatible with your device.")

after more than 2 months or so, I noticed that it can already be installed from the Google Play store.

I just find out Microsoft Authenticator will immediately exit upon launch on my Huawei P20. It works fine on my iPhone 6S.

As for the quality of some apps under Android, no need to argue, there are quite some apps which are of lower quality under Android compared to iOS. Just name one -- now I am typing using Android version of HardwareZone forum app with my P20 and it is very obvious the iOS version is more polished.

Again it is not really the problem with Huawei but Android in general.

I am not saying Android is bad though -- it has many advantages compared to iOS but iOS just feels more smooth in general.
