when i looked at the card, i can see that multiple fan blades broke off, like half the blades broke off from the main fan and it stopped working

Does any shop in sim lim sq do gpu fan replacement or is it easy to diy? no more warranty.

If your gpu is old, may be more worth to get a new one or 2nd hand next gen. Or u can try searching in taobao/aliexpress for any heatsinks w/ fan for youe gpu model.

*EDIT: Your gpu is a 1080, how is it out of warranty? US export set?

Then distro will base on manufacturing sticker on your card. At most, lose a few months of warranty.

i tried with other games, all became 99% utilization, fps drop significantly, but gpu usage ~2/8gb. i guess it attributes to the fan that broke

I can't think of any Nvidia setting for VRAM usage so could be hardware problem.

You can try replacing the fans with parts from ebay or just replace the whole HSF with Arctic Accelero Extreme IV.

If that does not solve the problem, you can try a fresh install of Windows on a spare SSD. This is to test if it is a Windows-related issue.

pretty sure its the fan, i manually move the other working fan to make it run and my fps shot back up, but im not interested to do that everytime i start my pc

thanks for your input, i will try to purchase that later to try it out! would any shop in sim lim sells it ?

Meanwhile i found a video on youtube and saw someone had the same problem on the zotac card and it broke off the same way mine did o.o

Try running benchmark and touch the heatsink. It could be thermal throttle coz no fan to dissipate heat out of heatsink.

Not sure about SLS but you can consider buying from Prime Now. S$83 (+$2.99 if not already member).

Use a pair of 120mm case fan. Strap to gpu using cable ties. Best remove shroud, but still ok if don't remove. Control fan speed by tagging it to gpu temp. Use speedfan or argus fan monitor for that

Since its out of warranty, I agree with Outramkia to just take out the shroud and strap a 120/140mm case fan to it using cable ties.

On a side note, I am just curious how did the fan blades break in the first place? While I've use some budget GPU brands before, never have I encountered half the fan blades breaking off. Did you drop it or is there something obstructing the fans in the first place?

hmm not exactly individual fan blade broke, but the circular thing the blades are attached to split. its like what happened to the video below.

How does prime works? Sorry i'm new when it comes to this. if the prime membership originates from SG, does it apply world wide in terms of shipping benefits because I couldn't find this product in amazon sg. However when i look at amazon US, the shipping is like 25USD.

also, US prime is like 13USD while SG is just 3SGD. I tried to google but didn't find anything that makes sense to me

Singapore Prime Now membership applies only to Amazon Singapore. S$2.99 for monthly membership.

You can buy items from Amazon U.S. that are in the "International" section of Singapore Prime Now via the Prime Now app (there is no desktop). Free shipping to Singapore for items $60 and above.

It's confusing, I know. :) Please feel free to ask if you require further clarification.

P.S. search using "Arctic Accelero" in the International section. The S$83 item is the Arctic Accelero IV Extreme.

I won't recommend buying after market coolers nowadays. I noticed that they don't always fit, depending on the board design. I used to think that I can anyway reuse it on another graphic card in the future, but realized that the mounting holes may change. Now I have 2 after market cooler that does not work on current graphic cards from Nvidia. :s22:

The Arctic Accelero IV is supposed to have wide compatibility, including with Pascal cards.

btw which two aftermarket coolers do you have?

Most aftermarket coolers only work on stock pcb design. Custom designs will not work. Different layout. So you have to check if your gpu is using stock design or custom design.

Also i noticed the arctic accelero 4 is using its own back plate. So for those cards with backplate, i think have to remove those and use arctics.
