When open some folder it takes time to load the contents inside

its not my main hard disk, use mainly as storage

Defragmented, checked and fix disk, still the same, so i formatted my hard disk, but again this problem persist...

Last time i also had same issue with my old computer, and it was my main hard disk, after sometime the hard disk just uplorry...

How old is your hard disk?

quite old riao...shld be around 4yrs

Download and run CrystalDiskMark to see the condition of your HDD.

health status ish Caution...

the yellow bubble states reacllocated sectors count : current-199 worst-199 threshold - 140

current pending sector count : current-197 worst-197 threshold - 0
uncorrectable sector count : current-200 worst-200 threshold - 0

but how to fix those?

Can try a low-level format but in most cases, it's unfixable. Both stats are very important indicators of impending failure, so if u have valuable data on the HDD then u better back up asap and use another drive.

This so called problem happen mostly in storage drive, nothing to do with new/old or going to die soon drives.

You must have stored many video/audio files along with many other file type in the folder which caused explorer reading all types of file to correctly display the content and icon to match the files properties.

On easy way to fix it is to configure the folder option of the affected folders. Open the affected folder, look at the top left corner and click "organize" then select "properties">customisze, select General items under "What kind of folder do you want", also select the option "Also apply this templates to all subfolder", click "Apply" then "OK".

Voila, continue to harvest more prawn if needed.:)

Don't wait already. Get a new decent HDD and copy all data to it. Given the bad sectors, quite a few files will be unreadable or can't be copied already, but it's still better than total HDD death. Go do it NAO! :s22:

Apparently yes.

Turn off Indexing, thumbview or right-click context menu will helps in some cases too, but the main culprit is the folder option mentioned above.

Avoid WD Green. Their Intellipark like to park here park there, park a lot until mati liao. WD Blue/Red can liao. Or if you want like me, buy overkill WD SE/RE enterprise :s13:
