Now let us begin with the disclaimer, this review is entirely in my own opinion, and if I have offended you in anyway with this review, I apologize in advanced. I'm going to be as honest as I can.
Design and build quality
Let us begin with the design and colour. The phone on first look appears sleek and in the Space Grey colour I chose, the screen appears a like a large slab of polished onyx. The finishing is flawless and the materials used feel premium.
The filler material used for the antenna gaps are different in colour for the different colour iPhones(White for the Gold, light grey for the Silver and darker grey for the Space Grey.) The antenna gaps itself is quite a polarising design feature. I didn't like how the white filler material looks on the gold iPhone and on the space grey, it is the least obvious. I would have preferred if the back of the phone was one seamless piece of aluminium, however they did it for better reception, so it is what it is.
The power and volume buttons feel great to press. The power button also has been repositioned to the right of the phone. This is especially important as the iPhone 6 plus is extremely long, quite a bit longer even compared to the Note 3 which has a 5.7 inch display and if the power button is placed at the old location, only people with massive hands would be able to use it one handed.
The finishing of the aluminium back has made it extremely slippery especially if your hands are dry as many of you have seen from the first iPhone 6 dropped video.
Display
The display is beautiful especially the Space Grey iPhone have the black bezel. The edges of the screen are rounded off and feels nice to touch. However this means that the display glass is protruding quite a bit and therefore more vulnerable in an accident.
The display is brighter than the note 3 by an appreciable difference. This is probably also due to the fact that my note 3 is a year old and the screen has some degradation. The iPhone's display at the dimmest setting is also dimmer than the Note 3 and therefore for people like me who like to read eBooks before sleeping, is a great feature.
The screen appears to be quite accurate in terms of colour and has a similar white point as compared to the iPad 3 with retina display.
Software
This topic has been covered by review websites that are better than I am. However I'd like to point out a couple of observations.
In the standard versus the zoomed mode, I can feel that the either the input lag is very minutely lesser or the frame rates is very slightly higher in the standard mode. Hopefully this would be ironed out in the next update.
Literally all the apps that are not made by Apple have yet to be updated to take advantage of the iPhone 6 plus screen and therefore the scaler in the iPhone basically upresolution the entire screen to make it fit. It isn't perfect, however it is much better than Window's 8 scaling where all the words turn into a mushy mess at 150% scaling onwards.
Camera
The camera on the iPhone is vastly improved in nearly every aspect. Now, before you say that "But the Note 4 has a higher resolution camera". Resolution isn't the only factor that affects your photo taking experience and results. You can have a 1000MP sensor but if your lens isn't able to resolve that kind of resolution, it is useless. Good DSLR lenses are only able to resolve maybe 35 mega pixels on a full frame sensor(36mmX24mm). I highly doubt that the tiny lens in any phone will be able to resolve even a fraction of that.
Lower pixel density for a given sensor size will mean that each pixel has the ability to capture more light, which in turn will result in a clearer and less noisy picture at night. OIS is a great feature that will help with longer exposure.
All in all, I think that the camera in the iPhone 6 Plus is more than enough camera for 95% of the people out there.
Conclusion
It is an awesome phone, especially if you've always like the iPhone or have an Apple ecosystem. The size can be an issue for some, especially those who like naked phones. The phone also wouldn't fit in some pockets, made worse by that fact that most of us will put the phone in a case.
I hope this review was enjoyable for you to read as it was for me to type. Cheers and good night!
