"[My Landlord] Asked Me To Pass Her My CDC Vouchers": Content Creator's Rental Conundrum Sparks Debate On Whether Vouchers Belong To Tenant Or Landlord

Someone recommended a way the landlord could get more CDC vouchers instead.

[My Landlord] Asked Me To Pass Her My CDC Vouchers: Content Creator's Rental Conundrum Sparks Debate On Whether Vouchers Belong To Tenant Or Landlord's Rental Conundrum Sparks Debate On Whether Vouchers Belong To Tenant Or Landlord

While most Singaporeans are happily using CDC vouchers for food and shopping, even Pokemon cards, one content creator is trying to figure out who the CDC vouchers belong to in the first place - her or her landlord?

In a video that has racked up more than 207K views on Instagram, 25-year-old Isabelle Quek, who lives in a rented flat, shared that her landlord had "asked [her] to pass her [Isabelle's] CDC vouchers!"

“Oh my god, my landlord asked me to log into my SingPass, so [that] she can take my CDC vouchers!” exclaimed the The Streamers Go Live contestant.

“But if I have to log into my SingPass, that means it belongs to me, what. Then, why are you taking my CDC Vouchers away?" a confused Isabelle asked.

“I don’t understand. I mean, I guess there is like one [set of vouchers] for the house, is it? I’m so confused, because, if you have to log into my SingPass, right, then I think it belongs to me and it doesn’t belong to you, no?”

According to the CDC website, the vouchers belong to the Singaporean household that has their NRIC registered to the address, which could mean either the tenant or the landlord. The site also states that individuals can file appeals at community centres.

While Isabelle usually communicates via the landlord's property agent on most rental matters, she shared that this time, the landlord had asked the agent for her number to contact Isabelle directly.

“Obviously I said yes [to giving her my phone number] because I wanted to keep a good relationship with her,” she explained.

After the landlord had requested for Isabelle's CDC vouchers, the content creator asked: "Don't you have yours?"

The landlord replied: “Oh, I can get [the vouchers], but it’s going to be very difficult for me to get it”.

“Why is it difficult? The government made things so easy for, like the elderly, excuse me?” asked Isabelle in the video.

Isabelle's conundrum sparked a discussion in the comments section, where the content creator also divulged a few more details about the whole kerfuffle.

When one netizen advised her to submit an appeal, Isabelle replied: "Our agent should've shared this with us man. He asked me to pass her either $150 or transfer her cash... lol."

When asked by netizens asked if she ultimately gave her landlord the vouchers, Isabelle replied: "Not yet, and I think I don't have to also...?"

Another advised Isabelle to just say no via the agent.“But later [the] landlord [will] think I yayapapaya, and [wanna] create a barrier between us. How?” she replied in the comments.

Some even went so far as to tag the Singapore Police Force's Instagram account in the comments.

One even advised Isabelle jokingly by asking her to tell the landlord that if she wants extra CDC vouchers, “go and do the walking trail”.

Said netizen was probably referring to the About Walking Trails@CDC where up to S$50 CDC Vouchers are up for grabs upon completing all the tasks.

8days.sg has reached out to Isabelle for updates on the situation.

Content creator Isabelle Quek claims her landlord is trying to take her CDC Vouchers

According to Isabelle, the landlord claimed difficulty in claiming the vouchers

And suspiciously asked Isabelle to log into her own SingPass to pass the vouchers to her

Isabelle questioned that if it was in her own SingPass, it belongs to her, right?

Very suss behaviour from this landlord of hers

If they do not share the same bloodline (household), they can claim their own set of CDC (total 5 sets).

Should belong to the tenant. Cdc vouchers are not the usave vouchers.

Is tied to individual, not household.
Landlord definitely is in the wrong.
Actually CDC is tied to household, not individual, not house.

this is to my understanding: individual gets each of their own

the previous batches before this month/years, were meant for house owners only

Didn’t read WOT

Why she rent an apt at age 25?
I moved out at 19 I don’t see the problem with it. If your parents are abusive and use you like unpaid maid to clean the house every time and even splash water on your face to prevent you from taking an afternoon nap (when you woke up at 5am to go to school) wtf would you want to save the few hundred dollars to live with them?

that $800/$600 is SG60 voucher?
but can be used like CDC, no? :s11:
Can be used like CDC but not CDC. Different name, different amount, different expiry, different eligibility. Most of all, sg60 was issued in jul, not aug leh.

Should the individual belong to another household staying at the same address, please visit your nearest CC to apply for the CDC Vouchers before 15 December 2025. Please bring along the following supporting documents: your NRIC, and any one of the relevant documents to show proof of household (e.g proof of previous overseas employment / proof of overseas address / tenancy agreement / proof of new resident e.g. taking/handing over keys)
