My PC Upgrade for YE 2013

Looking for an upgrade of current Mobo, CPU and RAM. Everything else will remain the same as the components in my profile.

A Corsair casing Full ATX will also be purchased - I'm leaning towards the 850d.

for CPU : Intel i7 4770k?
For mobo: ?????
For Ram: ???? I"m looking for 16GB

yeah intending to do what. CPU is the easy part cause I know I want to get that but still rubbering around on what mobo/RAM to get these days. been out of touch for sometime now...

also leaning towards the Corsair 800D case but it's like super EX!!

If budget or bang for buck is not relevant to you and you are only gaming on the rig, by all means get i7 no one is going to stop you its your money

But if you want the most bang for buck for gaming i7 is not going to give you much benefit. Most games do not even use hyper threading at all and even if it did, spend $150-$200 extra for 3-4 more fps? Why not use that money to get a better gpu that can net you extra 20-30 fps?

I have the same processor as TS last time and upgraded to i5 4670k. TS you can reuse ram if you wish to like I did.

has 2mb less cache
slower clock speed (nah, not a problem)
dual channel memory vs triple (< actually this is the same so disregard)
no HT

that's it ? price difference around 150SGD give or take.. hmmmm.

If budget is not of a concern then just hoot whatever you think you feels right.

If budget is tight, then an AMD FX8350 will be the best bet.

Given the same gpu ssd and ram used a i5 and i7 do have a difference when you multitask or even opening multiple webpages

Quite agree on that as well. It's like I thrift on my current mobo back in the day but regretted. Lol.

btw I'm also looking / deciding on the motherboard and most probably going for the Asus brand.

I understand the the RED ones are ROG (??) and the yellow ones are the main stream?

what are the difference between these?

e.g the Maximus line up vs. the Z87-Pro/Expert/Deluxe ?

yes. If yr budget allows u to get the 4770k WITHOUT compromising on yr other specs. Please go ahead. The shiokness & peace of mind with No regret is worth the marginal $130 diff. If the diff is like $300 imo must seriously consider again, as the $$ can get a 290X instead of a 280X with more satisfaction. My philosophy: Best Bang for Buck Per Satisfaction

Gonna OC or SLI? If not, get a basic mobo like MSI B85M-G43 will do, at least can do cross-fire..... Extra moola go into GPU more worth it...
