Most SOHO router will not be able to cover such an area properly even if this space is devoid of furniture. For proper coverage an additional AP will be required for the job.

i know 3rd party routers but which is the one of a better range and also works with MyRepublic without any firmware issues?

i heard from the sales team that the higher end router provider by MyRepublic having firmware issue and not recommend

thats why i need to get a 3rd party router to work with MyRepublic net

i had a similar problem.

i had a realtek NIC and its capable of 1Gbps, i was capped 500~600Mbps and when I switched over to my motherboard onboard NIC, it went up to 950Mbps :D

Can share how old is your desktop?

My desktop is roughly 1 yr old and is mid range. I suppose it should went up to 950Mbps?

I want to know the bottom neck is it on my device or is it MR. Cause it may be either one of them.

Of cos I hope MR have tester to check on my connection. Waiting for their help.

Will they help???

But the 1GB plan is even cheaper than the lower end plans from other ISP.

If the existing contract ends, what would happen to the customer BB ? Would it be status quo, what price ? Or new plan ? Would the customer need to sign a new contract ?

yeah i thot it was odd, no lower end plans listed. I don't really need 1g plan, its only for surfing and I don't download much.

considering switching isp during pc show.

You will remain on the old plan without contract and pay full price ($59/$69).

Thanks. Can we move to the new plan ? Does it mean we must sign new contract ?

Can we just move over to then 1GB without contract ? You sound like we have to sign new contract. Better to keep a customer, right ?

you must renew your contract, your plan does not auto upgrade

Not auto-grade ok. I can upgrade, but why must have contract ? If I don't upgrade and stay status quo, I also don't have contract.

You mean from now on, MR only will serve contract customers ?

You upgrade/recontract and pay cheaper prices, so of course they require you to commit with a contract. If you're happy to pay higher prices for lower speed, then ok loh. Isn't that the same with all other ISP?

I haven't done enough research yet.

My perspective is that if you still offer the existing plan at $59/- then I have nothing to say. But if you already not selling that plan, then you should move me to the latest plan when mine expire. Anyway, I'm not trying to argue this, just started off clarifying. It's ok. I see what's available & what suits me best.

Thanks.

I think MR will shift those non-contracting customer only when all other contracted and new sign-up are done or when they are ready to fully migrating out of NC infrastructure.

man...so far everythin was going smooth for me with no problems, until a few days back while i was on holiday. received an email from MR saying that i have no valid payment option? dafug...i already gave my debit card no. during sign up. Lousy data management.

As usual, tried calling them, waited for 20 minutes and got hanged up on their side. damn it...

Seemless upgrading is not possible IMO in this situation.

It was probably because the new plan require new contract signing + a change of your existing ONT.

In other words its not a backend thing/not require contractual changes. For example: Starhub cable's speed upgrade which they can do on their own backend without kajiao-ing the customer.

There is also another issue of price. Coincidentally its cheaper to upgrade, however what if its more expensive? Customers might not want to be slapped with a higher subscription without being notified of it. Example: Singtel's $25 mobile plan was revised and became $27 with inclusion of 100mb data...not every customer especially older people might actually need the 100mb data...so if they do that seemless upgrade then some of their customers might not want it.

IMHO, there is a switch of customer profile in the backend infrastructure from NC to MR when one re-contract. Thus, I think MR requires a contractual agreement from the customer to make that transition.

If there is no change in backend infrastructure, then I do agree with you.

For those who are up to recontract soon, are you going to?

From what I understand, if I recontract, I'll not get free router, and I'll pay to pay a OTC. So I might as well terminate and sign up with someone else to get free router and waiver of OTCs?

-Nobody gets free router anymore, whether it is new customer or recontract
-OTC only for new sign up and those under contract but want to upgrade. In other words OTC is not applicable for existing customers without a contract.

nobody from MR gets free router.

I didn't want to upgrade. But would you recontract me on my original 100mb plan?

There is no more 100Mbps plans. If you want to get something along the same price (I assume your plan is the $38 dollar one), existing users can opt to go for the 300Mbps plan at $39
