That depends... my office area suffered a mobile signal blackout yesterday. No Data, No Voice, No SMS aka no service Signal. Took them half a day to resolve.

Even when the equipment has no problems, I will still run into blind spots in coverage and more importantly, its not any faster than a landed data link and has a higher latency as well even when comparing against 4G.
i hope u sense my Sarcasm :)

Basically to upgrade to the 1Gbps connection is akin to terminating from NC hence need to free up the port for MR (here as OpCo).

Assuming if NC is unable to release the port in time, New subscriber could be someone who is on Singtel or M1, and they are able to release it for that subscriber to get on MR.

So if they have a problem in getting NC to release, any other OpCo will have same problem as well, unless 1)MR didn't do its job to chase NC or 2)unfair preferential treatment

Then the new RSP u sign up with will have to tell Opennet ready the fiber for 2nd port, in which Openent told u that they are unable to perform the work and hence you won't be able to get on the new RSP either.

And yes by staying mute MR is not helping u either.

Lensherr pretty much hit the nail on the head there. There are two ways to go from one ISP to another - either your 2nd fibre point in your TP gets activated, or the ISP performs something called a fibre-takeover (FTO).

Fibre-takeovers is an arrangement where MyRepublic "takes over" the Port 1 line on the backend. It's currently a tedious arrangement, process-wise, because there's a lot of paperwork involved and no automated system to communicate between the 2 ISPs.

However, in our experience FTOs have a far lower rate of failure. 2nd fibre activations have delays in 80% of cases, and these delays on average last about a month. Why? Because the bulk of Singaporean homes have a second fibre point, but the OpenNet backend lacks resources to support that second fibre point. That's why they need to "top-up" those resources before an ISP can activate that second point. FTOs were actually conceptualised as an alternative to 2nd fibre activations.

We've actually recently been working with IDA, OpenNet and several other ISPs on improving the FTO process, and should be making an announcement about that soon.

More importantly though, we've also been looking at the communication-trail with customers. Our limitation is that MyRepublic needs to wait for OpenNet to give us an update, but that doesn't mean our communication to affected customers should cease until then.

Welcome back to the thread Johnny/MyRepublic, we've been waiting :) Also I'm in contact with your colleagues via email to find a fix on the Twitch issue we all seem to be getting. Been posting updates in the other thread.

I just hope at the same time, you do not focus too much on trying to 'smoothen' the process and end up neglecting your customers... As it seems, MR have already neglected a lot of customers le, in regards of transfering to new 1GBPS connection, twitch.tv connection, billing issues, etc...

To me, there is no point in having the best transition for FTO but you got no customers to support you.

Why you talk until so sarcastic ?
Can't you talk it directly ? :s11:

Ooops I think i accidentally spammed MR Facebook page lol (See Quote below)

Oooooo wonderful 1Gpbs!!!! Had mine upgraded for a couple of months already.

Love it in the day time.

BUT NIGHT TIME SUXXXXXXXXX

I think MyRepublic wants me to sleep at 10pm every night. Cos after 10pm I cannot have smooth surfing. Gotta do multiple refreshes. But guess what every other site I go to has this issue when it comes to night time.

Only surfing Youtube site has no such issue. Even 1080p video loads great.

But HECK! I cannot update my website, cannot do Internet Banking blah blah it's like 10pm and ALL sites are given the worse bandwidth.

What kind of throttling is this for a 1Gbps plan!!!

MyRepublic staff if you are reading this. Find out what's wrong!!!!! I have realised that on forums, many people are having the same issue as me.

If you need more clarification, find me!

That is one of the main issues that need to iron out fast but I see that MR does not seem to be able to resolve the worst problem - non existence customer service.

Unless MR strategy is to "reduce" the customer base to a number that their manpower is able to support.

I feel like this is targetted at NEW SIGNUP CUSTOMERS. How are you going to address all the problems your existing customers are facing with no decent feedback

They only entertain new sign up!
If you noticed, it's the user that helps to answer most question and they tends to be in some partner programs and Now after using the network some switch to questioning MR in this forum!
So basically there is no customer service here just fellow user helping and intro to their friends!

Actually his statement is not really true in the first place. Cos at least at this forum here I never seen anyone of them posting in the forum for a long long time. I think customers wanted some form of response, even if its just telling them "sorry your issue is still unresolved because of certain xxxxx reasons" rather than keeping quiet and not responding at all.

Come on, please don't give me this bullsh*t.

'improving the FTO process' you say? How about proving what you said is true by not hampering the FTO process put in by my new ISP for the port held by MR?

My toes are laughing :s13:

Not a good idea to post your NRIC and phone number in public. At most should just give them your customer ID.

And its not throttling. It doesnt make sense to throttle web browsing and leave the bandwidth hungrier stuff like youtube streaming alone.

Probably some error in their network which u need to contact them ASAP to fix.

Yeah. I guess I shouldn't have. Damn. I forgot about keeping my personal privacy when I'm heated. grrrrrrrr. But thanks for the reminder. I gotta keep that in mind in the future too.

I have a theory. It might be that the flat you are staying in have too many people using MR, thus causing the bandwidth choke. Since fibre is using shared bandwidth, when more people are using the same ISP from the same location, quality will go down.
Why not give traffic light ISPs a chance instead since purple line is going ****.

It did cross my mind. So I lived with the issue for a few weeks. Only then I realised it's a daily issue.

The best part is every other site becomes unable to connect, but SpeedTest.Myrepublic.com.sg loads super fast, and click on Begin Test my bandwidth goes up super high. So I thought it's just that too many people in my neighbourhood is on MR causing a connection issue to the websites.

Then one day, i found out that I can surf and watch videos on youtube as per normal, but every other sites just becomes unload-able......(That was when I got heated and blah blah accidentally spammed MR Facebook page and wrote sarcastically about MR) - Many apologies MR!!!!

Got too heated cos it came to my mind that such issues are normally caused by throttling. I'm gonna guess that MR throttling is having problems.

Every provider out there will do certain traffic prioritization for specific traffic but I have never heard, and I don't believe that a provider will place priority for general web surfing below that of video streaming or downloading. This is because general web surfing is the most basic and min requirement of internet access.

Like I said you should contact them directly to resolve the problem, as it is likely to be some error somewhere. Posting here won't help you because they haven't been active here for months.

I think MR has already contacted him for more information via FB.
