Just 'upgraded' to 1Gbps. But I don't see any difference.

I was previously on 100 Mbps contract and via homeplugs, I can get about 20 Mbps. Now for the 1Gbps contract, I still get around the same speed. Is this normal?

I don't expect the speed to be 10 times better. 5 times faster I already very happy already. But getting the same speed as before is not acceptable.

Have you guys encounter the same thing?

Basically you need to understand THIS would be the case.

REason being of the term called Bottleneck. Based on your explanation, your bottleneck currently is your homeplugs, which limits your connection to 20mbps.

So imagine it as a 20mbps road. No matter how good your car(bill plan) is, be it 100mbps, 1gbps, 10gbps, it will only travel at 20mbps on this road.

I.E to say any connection running via the homeplug will still be limited to 20mbps.

All in all, to improve your speed, you might want to look at either trunking/ access point setup, as most cases of home plugs deployment have been rather unsatisfactory assuming the "theorized speed holds true"

hehe maintenance liao....seems like faster speed le...

let's test it out 10pm tonight :)

It's now 9AM.
The download speed is even slower after the so-called "maintenance".

588 Bytes/sec... and that's just ONE file

And the irony is, when I called the technical hotline,
I was put on definite hold while being forced to listen
to voice actors repeatedly telling me about the "high internet speed",
"fast file-sharing speed" and "unleashing the power of Internet"
capabilities of MyRepublic (!!!)

Wei. You never see the YouTube video right. See leh. See le Then you'll understand the problem I'm exactly experiencing.

i have a youtube plugin to set it at 720p default whenever video loads. so yeah. everything is fine.

@mcmxcii

for the sake of testing i just randomly grab a file off file hoster to compare with you.
this is off premium.to since i saw u using rpnet

The problem is not the speed differences but the price. There is no way you will feel the difference between 50/100/1000mbps to be honest as there is a bandwidth cap anyway.

Most of us were on either 49/59 for 100mbps and they rolled out 1gbps for 48. There was no reason for us to pay more and thus taking the recontract plan which was severely inferior to the old plan.

And customer service had gone down the drain...

I think what he meant is if there is a bandwidth cap e.g. 50Mbps for video streaming, one will still only have 50Mbps bandwidth to watch video even he/she is on 50Mbps/100Mbps/1000Mbps plan.

Hi MR representative

If you're reading this I've been sending support ticket as a consumer and as a Business Client Representative.

My download speed has been Horrible, on my personnel line, even a M1 Student Plan can Download faster from Steam Servers and Origin Server then my Connection.

And on the other side My Client whose using your connection needs a public static address for Video Conferencing. I've send repeated mails but there was no responds.

I'm not sure if this is getting through but I've been very frustrated for 2 weeks.
On client site.

For my own internet, I've already given up Customer Support since last month.
But for business support, you have not acknowledge at all either.

Please respond.

Regards
Very frustrated Customer.
