Dear MyRepublic,
Please step up your level of informing new customers about the installation process and potential appointment delays. Since I plan to terminate with Singtel by the 15th of November to save on additional billing charges, I had planned to settle everything with MR by the 14th but it all failed because of the mess that I had to deal with.
It all started when
I received an SMS and email notification to inform me that my appointment with OpenNet on the 10th (OpenNet) and 15th (MR) November would be delayed due to "insufficient capacity" or "lack of 2nd fibre line" by OpenNet to activate the 2nd port.
The email stated that I would most likely only have to wait "within a month" for OpenNet to resolve the issue.

I remembered phoning MR Customer Care (It took ages for someone to answer the line) and a soft spoken female picked up the phone and advised that I activate my 2nd port instead of releasing the first port for use by MR. This would be the worst advise I could receive as I trusted that OpenNet would share information with the different ISPs about their difficulties with their infrastructure throughout various parts of Singapore.
----------------------------------
Today, 10th November
Due to the lack of information about my delayed appointment, I had no choice but to phone MR Customer Care yet again.
To my horror, the person on the other line had no idea what to tell me except to push the entire issue to OpenNet's end and said that if I decide to cancel the activation of the 2nd port (because they have already "processed" it) and switch to the alternate method of releasing the 1st port to be used by MR, it would cost me $250 SGD and the contract is "bounded by OpenNet" and everything that I needed to know, I have to contact OpenNet.
So I contacted OpenNet and was informed that the delay would take UPWARDS of 2 months and there was nothing that they could do about it. How come MR isn't informed that it would take more than 2 months to fix capacity issues? And I have to phone separate hotlines to learn about it, it puzzles me.
So right now there isn't a way to terminate the appointment with OpenNet activation of the 2nd port without incurring a really unneeded charge and I have to wait 2 months for it? This is really 0/5 service and level of care for either parties.
Do you know in Australia you would have to get the internet fully 100% functional within 48 hours or you could face a fine, and in Singapore, the customers are the ones that have to face a fine for cancelling on a failed service.
