Hi guys am having weird on-offs problem with my pc. Recently, since about last week it wouldn't power up normally by pressing the on button, and doesnt respond. But on some days it does power on when i connect my internet adapter to a usb slot without pressing the on button, which is really weird. But it eventually stopped powering on, even with the internet adaptor method a few days later.

the back-story was that i had a faulty psu with a 3.3v reading that would spike, and caused my pc to crash, which was within 1-2 months after assembling with a reading of 3.6v on the 3.3v rail. Promptly sent it back to RMA and i thought it was all okay from then on. Not.

On the returned psu , the above problem started to surface but i've checked the 3.3v rail of the rma'd psu at bios, which was around 3.360v consistently.

i tested cmos etc but it still had the wont boot problem.

just a short explanation. Originally had 2 sticks of ram that were in 2012, and bought 2 newer ones when i first assembled pc in june, thinking i'd be able to use all 4 on my DIMM slots, but my hyper 212 ate into the space, so i used the new march 2013 rams for the 2 slots and kept the 2012 rams as a spare.

the problem occurred on the March 2013 batch rams so i borrowed the older rams and tested it. In dual channel mode they couldn't boot but with a single stick of the 2012 batch it could boot although once i shut the pc off it wouldn't power on subsequently and i had to turn off the psu mains and power it on again after a long while to get it to boot. When i used one stick of the March 2013 rams on any of the dimm slots, it wouldn't boot at all.

Mobo was receiving power and has the standby LED power on button lit while testing

I sent the rams to RMA yesterday and they said the 2012 sticks were faulty, and replaced the 2012 sets with a sept 2013 batch that i havent used yet.The 2013 March batch were okay, according to what they said after testing, so i tested it again but the problem ( can boot once but cant power on subsequently) occured again so i brought the mobo for checking as i thought the lemon 3.6v psu had affected the mobo . It was okay according to them, but they did not use my ram/processor/ psu to test and the problem didn't surface on thier hardware on an open bench. Will be going back again this friday with my ram/processer/ psu to test though.

sorry if my explanation is not clear enough :slant:
