Theres one question... Right now from what I see, if I want to use the Note 2 stock but rooted, I would not be able to receive any OTA updates right? Even if I did not change any of the stock rom files (no custom roms, no removal or stuff of the stock rom files such as bloatwares etc).

I want to root so I can use titanium and other root apps, so if I want to OTA, I'd need to unroot -> OTA -> Root again (if the OTA doesn't break root). Am I right?

My wife and I got us a pair of Note IIs today and I rooted mine when we got home.

After rooting the phone it seems like her reception at home is better than mine and she is connected to HSPDA most of the time and I'm hovering between 3G and G. I checked the Kernel Version and Baseband version in the "About" section under settings and we are using the same thing. I'm talking about even when both phones are side by side and using the same telco and YES both of our settings are the same for mobile network.

Could my rooting cause this somehow?

Another weird thing is that when both of our phones were connected to Wifi, some apps could not be downloaded from the play store as it keeps getting stuck at downloading and there is no percentage bar but when we use our mobile network its all ok. Read that some other users also experienced this and yes my ISP is Suckhub. But funny leh, some apps ok some apps cannot.

Anyone with similar experience or have any solutions?

Root does nothing except grant "administrator rights" to the user. It allows you to access the "root" directory, hence the term "root".

In a word, no. Rooting does not cause difference in signals/reception/battery life. Anything you experience is either placebo effect, user problem or a rogue app you installed that uses it's root privs to do something to your phone.

Apps getting stuck while downloading is pretty common. You can simply cancel the download and start again and it usually works fine.

Ota more or less breaks the root, can always root again.

why don't you try?

Don't dare cos I still new to mods haha..

yes and it works on lj5 as well.

Thanks. Basically all I do is enter the list of apps I want on the multitasking tool, download and flash it in via Odin?

For default apps such as Facebook/gmail etc, do I need to include it in the list when I generate the zip?

No you don't flash it via odin but via cwm.

You do not need to add the default apps into the list either!

Opps my bad. Thanks for the info on default apps too.

Basically I just create the update.zip on the non-default apps that I want on the tool, save it into the root of my SD card, boot CWM and apply update from SD right? :o

Hey guys.. just to double check.. how do I download firmwares from Sammobile? Clicked on the "Regular Download" link on Hotfile and even though it says "Downloading .... ", I don't see any downloads or any progress of the downloads at all?

Ok it started downloading now after a few reboots of the comp.. :\

But will root break OTA? This is something I'm not too sure of... Do I need to unroot before the OTA will allow me to carry on with it?

Yup once root cannot ota. But u could download fileware and reflash again.. then root again and restore back up from titanium back up

Anyone knows what's the differences between Odin v1.85, 3.04 and 3.07?

For flashing of official or custom roms or rooting, does it matter if we're using different odin versions?
