i just came back from 8D7N Nagoya - Gifu - Kawaguchiko trip. Feel free to AMA.
For 2-3 days, i highly recommend you to head to Ise, Mie prefecture nearby by train, go as early as you can, start the day with a morning walk in Ise jingu area, then after walk at the shrine, come out to the street right outside with many delicious street food. Afterwards you can head to the other side of Ise, near Meoto-iwa shrine etc. Ise is considerably less touristy and overall nice to walk around and just chill/relax. As for nagoya, there isnt anything much if you arent into museums (I personally arent) so at most you could visit the Osu Kannon shrine, walk around Sakae for shopping, and eat their specialty food like miso katsu and unagi bowls.

No, it wasn't snowing. I think Ise area don't receive much snow in winter. Anyway this year's winter is warmer and snow is slightly more delayed due to the typhoon. We only see minimal snow (mainly accumulation and morning frost) in Gifu areas.

I realised still got slots for the museum tour for next month. Will book!
If you are referring to the Toyota plant tour, it is totally worth it. The guide speaks good English and the tour is not rush. You get to understand two sections of the production line in details while walking through the plants at an elevated height. The museum at the meet-up point is quite simple so you can probably go earlier before the tour to explore it and leave right after the plant tour.

I have to agree that Nagoya can be a little on the boring side but Ise is really a nice place. It has been about 3.5years since I first went to the area. Oharaimachi is unfortunately a little more touristy now.

I went for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet plant tour too.

Comparing the two companies, Toyota focuses on its technology and projects an image that it focuses on quality and how it partners its employees to improve itself.

Mitsubishi, on the other hand is a paid tour with limited English tours on a monthly basis despite showing a schedule that it runs once daily. While one can pass through the plant, you won't catch the workers in actions on weekend tours and Mitsubishi tends to emphasis a lot on how it has incoprated Japanese culture into its regional jet design.

It is quite an informative tour. However, the demand for the tour is very low and the tour may not be released exactly two months in advance.

thanks for the head up. any more company tours other than these two in Japan. I am going to have one at ANA next year.

There two are the ones that I have personally visit.

I heard of Mazada's plant tour in Hiroshima too but the review suggests that it is too rush. It is only 90 min in total if I recall correctly.

Calbee supposedly has factory tour too and if I recall correctly, participants are required to understand Japanese or have a tour guide to be able to join the tour.
