name on airticket

i will be going on my first trip overseas. while booking the air ticket i do not know how to fill in the last and first time. i understand last name is ur surname but if the name on NRIC is example: tony chen jia hao. the last name will be chen and the first name will be tony jia hao?

can anyone advice

Your NRIC probably says you are Chen Jia Hao Tony, so I advise you to use your first name as Jia Hao Tony.

u use IC for travelling? Only travelling within the same country requires IC to board the plane. (Example : Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru)

For International flight, you need a passport.

If your name is : Tony chen jia hao
You can book which ever way you like. All can use to board the flight.

Different country got different ways of booking style.
In Singapore, we will use C method.
In Ang mo country, they will use A,B,D method.

A) Tony / Chen Jia Hao Mr
B) Chen / Tony Jia Hao Mr
C) Chen / Jia Hao Tony Mr
D) Hao / Tony Chen Jia Mr

You only have problem if you need to credit the points into your FFP (Frequent flyer programe). Since you are 1st time travelling, dont bother with FFP issue

I've always ignored my Chinese name, and doesn't seem to invite any query even though my passport states my full name.

e.g. Matthias Oh Zhen Xiang

I will put [First Name] Matthias [Last Name] Oh. Seems to work on all Singapore Airlines flights I've taken. No complaints from immigration either. But for the US, I'll put [First Name] Matthias [Last Name] Oh Zhen Xiang. The immigration authorities in the US can be pretty fussy sometimes.
