Hi, I read that there are some issues with DNS-320L not able to power up with blue LED blinking. I encountered similarly problem with my NAS after 2 years of using. I wonder if this is a common issues with this model.

I bought a new DNS-320L and wanted to transfer my HDD from the faulty DNS-320L to the new DNS-320L. Was prompted to format the HDDs. Both 2TB HDD are configured as RAID 1. Anyway to avoid reformatting them? I thought it should work without reformatting since they are the same model.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

on RAID 1? plug it to your desktop or an external enclosure and use ext2fsd.

Thanks Batniss for your response.

I understand that you can recover the HDD through ext enclosure or desktop. I wanted to directly plug-in the HDD to a new DNS-320L without formatting the HDDs. Any chance?

Best to call D-Link tech support for assistance.

not that i know of. your best chance (if its on RAID1)
- take 1 out plug into ext drive (make sure data can be read on ur computer)
- take the other 1 and put it into the DNS-320L and let it get wiped. then proceed to copy the one from your computer to ur new nas.

Hi,

The newer DNS320L comes with Transmission 2.73 when shipped (prior to installation of funplugz), and I can't get Transmission Web Home working since it was shipped without the web directory. And I need to tell transmission-daemon where the web directory is.

Any idea what should I do to fix this?

Here's the transmission process running in bg, if I can feed in Transmission_Web_Home variable here, i'm solved.
Code:
root@NAS:~# ps ux | grep transmission
root 19631 20.7 22.2 123936 55352 ? Ssl Jun14 890:43 /usr/sbin/transmission-daemon -M -g /mnt/HD/HD_a2/.systemfile/P2P/.settings -w /mnt/HD/HD_a2/P2P/complete --incomplete-dir /mnt/HD/HD_a2/P2P/incomplete
root 28847 0.0 0.1 1760 372 pts/0 S+ 16:43 0:00 grep transmission

What do you think I should do? I don't know if I can upgrade transmission client? :o

@weiyang76, I understand that D-link addon has its own start/stop script. Send me a copy of all the related files in a tar archive so that I know where it's stored. It kind of hard to figure thing out when you don't have the actual hardware to work on!

Hi Guys, My DNS-320L finally die after 5 years of usage (blinking blue light). I don't think a repair is possible, do you guys know what is the best replacement for NAS? I have 2 HDD still working perfectly and NO RAID setup, and would like to find a new home for these 2 HDD without losing all my data.

I wouldn't recommend D-link or Asustor.

As for your HDDs, the chances of accessing your data by simply putting it on the replacement NAS is slim at best. The best option is to get a external docking bay like Orico and transfer the data over to the new NAS or HDD on PC.

Yes, I have gotten a HDD reader and gotten my photo out, but there are other files that are too big to fit into my backup 2.5" and they are not that important for me to get another removable HDD to backup the content. That's why I wonder it is possible to just plug into a new NAS.

Each NAS brand/model has it own unique setup in term of file system, partition size/layout, etc. Some even require downloading of system files onto the HDD during initial setup. It's just not possible to PnP existing HDD with data into new NAS and expect it to work as normal unless it the same brand/model.

I see, thank you for your advise. Now I just get a cloud storage to upload the files temporary. Will find a chance to buy a proper NAS.
